Graphics Card to support High Resolution (2560x1440) Monitor

Tue Jan 07, 2020 6:36 pm

What is the best graphics card compatible with a HP Envy 700-406 Computer to support a HP Pavilion 32" LED QHD Monitor (Optimal resolution: 2560x1440)?
This is an older computer with a card that only supports 1920x1080 resolution.
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit. Version 18363.535
Processor: AMD A10-7700K Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G
Memory: 14 GB

Your onboard GPU (APU) already supports that resolution. How are you trying to connect the monitor to your computer (what type of cable)?

It is a HDMI cable that came with the monitor. I think the problem is that I have to use a "HDMI to DVI-D (Dual Link)" adapter because there is no HDMI port on the computer. I think the DVI-D (Dual Link) port just does not support the higher resolution. So, I'm trying to get a Graphics Card with a HDMI port or a DisplayPort. I already used a NIVIDIA low-end card but it caused all kind of problems with the display because the driver was not compatible with Windows 10.

If I understand the information linked below correctly, you can't even obtain a proper adapter cable. Cables are single link HDMI-to-single link DVI. The former has enough bandwidth for 2560x1440, the latter doesn't.

Thank you for the information. I have ordered the adapter and a DP cable.
