1920 X 1080 144hz Gaming

Mon Feb 24, 2020 4:50 pm

So I was thinking about upgrading my brothers computer as it's a bit old and his 1070 runs hot. I was considering a 5700 XT or 2060 Super; based on the reviews I've seen so far board partner 5700XTs are out performing 2060, 2060 Super, 2017, and 2070 Super cards and, as of today, costing $100 less??? This seems nuts to me. How in the hell is Nvidia selling a slower product for $100 more? Anyway, how are 5700XT owners doing with their cards? Any driver issues? It seems almost too good to be true yet the review sites don't outright state the 5700XT is spanking everything through 2060 to 2070 Super territory for the same noise and thermals, power consumption is not a concern here.

Current PC:
Win 10 Pro_x64, i7 4770k, GTX 1070, 16GB RAM, 1GB SSD

I haven't been paying attention to graphics as I run a EVGA 1080ti FTW3 at 3440x1440@100hz. I'm looking to upgrade to 4K@100hz gaming but that isn't a thing yet, even the 2080ti is not enough.

If you find a title that uses ray-tracing, the GeForce RTX2070SUPER may be able to do that. Otherwise, GeForce RTX2070SUPER is a bit faster than Radeon RX 5700XT in most games that don’t use ray tracing.

NVidia’s Tu104 is a 13.6-billion transistor chip from 2018 built using ye olde 12 nm process. That means that it’s going to use more power and generate more heat than AMD’s 10.3-billion transistor Navi 10 chip from 2019 built on 7 nm lithography,
