I think its finally time to upgrade the old Geforce II MX. Even though this is a bad time to upgrade, being that the new GeForce4 TI will be out soon.

Anyways, im looking to spend in the 150 to 250 Range, prefer more along the lines of 150 - 200. Whats probably the best choice for around that price? By the way, my system is a 100% GAMING MACHINE!!
Opinions , advice , much appreciated

If its gotta be now, an ATI Radeon 8500 64MB retail or a Visiontek (or Gainward) GF3-Ti200. If you can wait a couple months, get a GF4-Ti4200.

I recommend the Gainward cards. I have a Geforce 3 Ti200 and love it. You might be better getting the Ti500 cards for the higher clock speed.

I don't know if a Ti500 will be available for $250 or less. Besides, most of the Ti200's OC fairly well, so near (or better!) than Ti500 speeds are available, even with stock cooling.

Well i went to Frys Electronics last night after work. And i think i ended up making a wise decision to wait a few more months to upgrade the Video card. Prices were too expensive considering, like someone said, that the New Geforce 4 TIs will be out soon for cheaper than the Geforce 3s are going for. So, Im going to hold off.....thanx anyway everyone

Fry's?
Oh man, you must like paying too much. Although I will confess to buying my graphics cards at CompUSA, so I can get TAP on them, and exchange them when something new comes out.

compusa...wants extra money so they ask u do u want a warrenty...for like $5 on ur video card...at first u are like hell no! but think about it its for a year and being the big retail store that they are they can not keep ur old card in stock when nvidia makes 6 new ones a year....so after 8 months (6 if u cant wait) ur video card somehow breaks and u end up with a geforce 5....

hmmm, CC'z maxed out dat sux.. U can opt to go to a COMP SHOW. They're sometimes cheaper.
VID CARD 2get: GF3 TI 200(150-200, might be decrease SINCE GF4 is now out) Considering ur budget, DO NOT opt for GF4 B/C... G4 TI 4200-4600 definitely high priced, G4MX is practically a REVAMP of GF2MX. [go see dis link and ull c wat i mean http://www.tech-report.com/etc/2002q1/g ... dex.x?pg=1]
Dis link also shows NVIDIA/ ATI vid card specs. ** GF 3 or RADEON 7500-8500(DO NOT GET 128MB card, not worth da price or MINOR performance increase) are both good choices, personally I'd get da GF 3 TI 200

Well the 128MB version of the Radeon is suppose to be same price as 64MB was.
The 8500 is a great card so why not get the 128MB version for same price?
Just my .02

I wouldn't call the GF4 4200 at $199 too high priced either.
