Why not just get a 50"-60" HDTV? I imagine it would be more immersive than an EyeFinity setup.
I think a 50" - 60" HDTV would be a tad more expensive then 2 or even 3 decent monitors. Plus I figure it would absolutely overrun most computer desks.
Depends on what you're getting. Three 24" IPS monitors will cost you over $1200 while a decent 120Hz 52" LCD will cost you about the same. The 1080p resolution still looks quite nice even up close and the card's power at that resolution won't seem as wasted as new, more demanding games come out. But if you were looking to put this on a computer desk, I hear ya'. Not that three 24" monitors will fit easily on a desk, but a 52" TV is a little too much. Maybe a 32", 37"or 42"? I'm just thinking about all the Triple-head promises and games of the past that never materialized. It would be a shame to spend all that money on three good monitors and end up only using one of them for 98% of what's out there. Plus, you would have no borders in your visual field which is what sells one large monitor for me.
And they do make 32" 1080p televisions. Here's a Samsung LN32B640 1080p 120Hz for $750 shipped. (Take 5%-10% off of that with Bing cashback). Worse comes to worse, you can use it as a backup TV. Something to think about.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+3 ... 8076081107
If I had to choose the best of all worlds, I'd simply settle for a 30" monitor, but that costs almost double what that 32" TV costs and you can't use it as a TV unless you get an ATSC/QAM tuner card. Depends on what you're willing to put up with (borders for me are unacceptable) and how much you're willing to spend.
