I currently have a G450 and it's adequate, but not great for 3D gaming. I'm starting to consider an upgrade.....

In terms of hardware, the Radeon 7500 is the fastest card currently supported by DRI and should be more than fast enough for some Quake 3 action. However, there seem to be a lot of horror stories surrounding the Radeon drivers in Xfree86/DRI.

Has anyone out there used the Radeon under Linux/*BSD? Was it fast/stable? How about the win2k drivers? I want a solid recommendation before I plunk down $100 for a new card.
