This is low enough, even for the passively cooled models that use up two slots in order to ensure proper cooling. Accordingly, the actively-cooled models are smaller and only use up a single slot. Despite the fact that the cards only use four PCIe lanes internally, the external connector requires a PCIe x16 slot."

Technically, only the x16 slot is rated to supply up to 75w. x1 and x4 physical slots are only required to deliver up to 25w, but in practice going over spec to 30w is usually not a problem, and an x16 card will plug right into an open-ended smaller slot. Note though that some SFF x16 slots actually have 25w maximum printed right on them.

It's purely a power issue as the GT1030 chip only has external wiring to connect to x4 whether or not all traces are printed on the x16 connector.

A single-slot low-profile 1050 Ti? Wow! Is this card the one you're referring to?

How do you find the temperatures at idling and under load? The one review on the GearBest site indicates temps of 83 degrees C.

Yes, this is the one. I paid a bit less with the coupon they had ($201).
In regards to temperatures, idle it is running 27 -30C. I had no time to do some serious gaming but I ran Unigine Valley on it with the settings from my first post. After an hour it was stable 69 - 71C. I have not seen anything above 71C.It may be unit dependable. Remember, this is Chinese brand

Those are really good temperatures for a single slot 1050ti, thanks for the info @pilapila3!

@Erniesone yes, the card only uses a PCI express x4 slot's worth of connection for data but it physically requires an x16 slot (full length) to connect. The notebookcheck phrasing is confusing, possibly due to translation, but they are saying that the passively cooled cards (the ones without a fan) are double wide to be able to sufficiently cool the card, whereas most of the ones with fans are single-slot width. So for some systems the passively cooled cards may not fit, if you only have room for something that is single slot.

Thanks.
I have the Dell 9020 SFF where the PCI-e x16 slot has stupidly put right next to the power unit. To use a graphic card requiring double space I only have a PCI-e x1 slot.
Youtube by MrWhitianga shows a GTX 1050Ti being put into the x1 slot and it seems nothing has blown up (so far). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w45ZOcXXzs
GTX 1050Ti looks a great (cost effective) graphic card but I am nervous of actually trying to use it in my Dell.
Anyone tried this?

The card shown is dual slot Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti OC Low Profile 4GB GDDR5 128 Bit PCI-E Graphic Card (GV-N105TOC-4GL). It plugs in single slot but it requires space of 2 slots based on the video from your post. If you have the same machine as shown you should be fine.
It appears to me it is more expensive than ASL G1504 though.
Amazon price is over $270:
https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Geforce ... B06WWLWWJM

ASL 1504G on GearBest is currently $211 (they have 26% off offer running):
https://www.gearbest.com/graphics-video ... 61865.html

ASL G1504 would leave you more space hence better ventilation/airflow in my opinion.

The top slot looks like an x4 slot, with an open end, so it can physically fit cards that require x8 or x16 length.

You'll have less bandwidth than the x16 slot could provide, though most tests have shown the performance difference is negligible - the main question would be whether or not the slot can provide enough power. I haven't tried it personally but if others have been running them it's (probably?) fine. x4 cards are typically limited to 25W, where x16 cards can go up to 75W. All of the power connections are located in the "x1" area of the slot, so in theory it should all be fine. Don't take that as any kind of "official" word on the subject though.

Anyways, all that said, a single slot card would sidestep the bandwidth issue and the ASL one pilapila3 has mentioned is the only one we've seen so far. It is definitely cheaper than buying a 1050ti from Newegg or Amazon right now.

One thing that has to be mentioned if ASL G1504 will be the choice is the lead time. It took 2 weeks for mine to arrive with America Line(SF) shipping method.

Many thanks again for the thoughts. The ASL looks very good but at 190cms it is just too long for the Dell SFF case. Otherwise it would have been ideal.
Toss up whether to use the cheap GT 1030 LP Silent card for video processing or go for the GTX 1050Ti for more power. Great fun checking the specs of these upgrades.

PSA via AnandTech: NVIDIA Quietly Rolls out Slower, Lower TDP GeForce GT 1030 With DDR4 VRAM

Sometime last month, NVIDIA quietly released the GeForce GT 1030 DDR4, with several models filtering out through add-in board partners.

In addition to slower-clocked DDR4 VRAM, the GT 1030 DDR4’s core clocks have also been reduced, though the exact boost clocks differ between custom boards. The end result of 2100Mbps DDR4 from 6008Mbps GDDR5 does reduce the bandwidth from around 48 GB/s to 16.8 GB/s, though with no change to memory size and bus width. It appears that the DDR4 variants are also lower power, with a 20W TDP as opposed to 30W.

Loving my MSI Radeon RX 560 Low Profile 4GB (GDDR5) card so far ... it only needs (up to) 75W from the PCIe x16 slot, and has no additional power connector.

Can you run Unigine Valley benchmark on it? I am curious how it performs in comparison to my ASL G1504.

Neat! MSI had a dual slot, low profile RX 460 2GB card for a while. I bought one on ebay but the seller never shipped. :(

This is the MSI 560 for anyone wondering ($170):

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6814137308

Zotac's low profile 1050ti is currently sitting at $230:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6814500417

$170 isn't a bad price, considering the other options. It's still too damn high, IMO. But it's better than it has been recently.

Yep. From what I researched, the price/performance ratio of the RX 560 looked pretty good to me, after considering that it was a low profile card and didn't need an extra power connector. I would've loved the extra performance promised by the 1050ti, but the 10-year solid capacitors, longer warranty, better open-source driver support, and smaller dimensions of the 560 was more important to me.

I checked ASL G1504. Still over $200 :(
Probably we will not see price drop for that one. I believe this is the only true single slot 1050 Ti out there.

I just found a great deal on that ASL G1504 on ebay, seller had it listed at $180 with free shipping, Got it during the 15% off deal and came out to around $152.

It's going to take a couple of weeks to arrive, I'm a little sketchy though due to the small amount of reviews the card has and how notorious China is for producing fakes. Really hope it works out though, one of the reviews on Gearbest said that it requires downloading drivers from ASL but I couldn't seem to find there site, does anyone have a link to it, or more information about the card besides what is in the ads? Pics or Videos of the card in action and its specs would go a long way!

Edit/ Never mind found a little more information about it, it also goes by the name ASL 1050ti Battle Flag, I found another reviewer's fire strike graphics score of 7810 which falls in line with other 1050ti's so it seems legit, very excited to try it out for myself.

Look at my first post on this forum. I did some benchmarks. This card can run The Witcher 3 GOTY full HD on high settings without a glitch. I did not download ASL drivers. Instead I went for newest NVidia package. Didn't have any problems.

There is rarely a reason that you should download a driver from the board assembler instead of from the folks that designed the GPU.
NVidia GeForce drivers are here: https://www.geforce.com/drivers
AMD Radeon drivers are here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

I figured that out after posting, I found the drivers on the ASL website and they just seem to be an outdated version of the normal NVidia package, that is all

I don't doubt now the card is legit, in my case I just hope my supplier comes through, as I said it was a really good deal, and I can't wait to try it out!

Mind sharing which seller was offering this price?

They have since bumped up the price to $220 so there might be better options out there now.

So my Valley scores

1080p, high quality, x2 AA = 2560pts, 61.2fps
1080p, high quality, x0 AA = 2959pts, 70.7

I also compared some heaven scores to a couple of factory oc'd 1050 ti's and the scores did at up, also maxed out the memory just to make sure and was able to use all 4gb.

My card peaks at 83c under full load, however I am using a very compact unit that does not have very good cooling, I also have my system set up vertically with the fan facing downward, so I'm sure the cooling is much better depending on the setup.

On another note I managed to fit this in my OptiPlex 990 SFF, I did this by taking out the bolt that locks the HDD, and trimming off the locking mechanism from the hdd chassis with wire cutters, and some elbow grease. The hdd/disc drive still seems to stay locked in place just fine, even with moving the system around, and using it vertically.

Overall I'm very pleased with the card so far, I haven't used it much yet aside form the benchmarks, but I did try hearthstone, and could already see a major difference in fps even compared to my old r9 270.

I'm using the Gigabyte GT 1030 that I bought under $80. It is one of those cards which have the lowest TDP. Also, it is almost close to GTX 750Ti in performance.
