EVGA GTX 780 won't detect TV via HDMI

Both HP monitors work fine but the card will not detect the TV, which is connected via the HDMI port.

I thought NV and AMD had both fixed the EDID bug from years ago so I hope it's not that. Most of the fixes for EDID I found are 4, 5 years old.

Anyway the EVGA 770 I had 2 weeks ago worked perfect - all 3 displays, no problem.

It's definitely the card itself, the HDMI port on the card or a driver issue. I've ruled out the cable and the TV. The TV offers to "Enjoy this device?" when I connect the cable to HDMI 2 (HDMI 1 is cable)

I tried the DVD drivers, also the most recent NV driver (337.88) and a beta driver from EVGA - nothing.

I uninstalled Ultramon thinking that maybe was causing a conflict - no help.
There's no onboard video but I checked the BIOS anyway - nothing there applies.

The only thing I didn't do is flash the BIOS. I highly doubt I need to update the BIOS on an X58 board for a 700-series graphics card. Nobody else on the interweb has needed an update - no one I could find that is.

Any ideas, thoughts, advice - I would really appreciate reading them...Thanks!

Try unplugging the TV for around 30 seconds. For some reason when I would bring my HD7750 tower to mother in laws house with wife and try it on a year old under 30" Vizio 720p HDTV HDMI input It would work around 30% of the time. What it resets I do not know but it would screw up if the computer dropped the monitor signal if it was set to do that.

It used to make me so mad I was glad I had a i3 2125 IGP that seemed to always work...but I feel your pain.

Looks like you are facing the same problem that i faced 2 months back...(I have thread about the same issue)

I would suggest you to let the system boot, once the driver are loaded the TV will automatically get detected.

Hope this works for you as it did worked for me.

Thanks for your replies you guys - I tried all that stuff - unplugging, waiting, on/off, etc. nothing worked.

So I bought a DVI - HDMI adapter at radio shack for $20 (at monoprice, $3) and now it's working - except I have a dead HDMI port on the card.

At first I thought it was a "handshake" issue between the TV and the HDMI signal. But now I think that HDMI port on the card is dead; It won't even light up a regular computer monitor.

So I have my 3 displays running but I have what appears to be a dead HDMI port - on a $600 card. I'm going to call EVGA on Monday, see what they say.

Thanks again!

EVGA tech support / customer service lived up to its billing - they're shipping me a new 780 with a prepaid return label. I have to put almost $600 on hold for the cross-ship but that was expected.

so for all the folks around here who said "EVGA customer service is the best" I can testify that's true - they make it easy to RMA and they actually answer the phone when you call.

Customer service - what a concept :)
