Steam Summer Sale 2015

Thu Jun 11, 2015 8:37 am

The Steam Summer Sale 2015 is imminent!

I'm in for:

-GTA 5 if I can get it for less than $42 (I have a 30% off coupon at GMG that I can use)
-The Escapists for less than $9
-Transistor for around $5

And that's about it. May also order a Steam Controller since I bought the $100 steam wallet card for $85 the other day.

What are you on the lookout for?

Transistor is cool game. I'm about 80% through it. Worth at least $5.

Got the preorder at Nuuvem for $38 CAD (30.89 USD) using Hola VPN to purchase. They give you a non-region locked key. But it's for R* social club and not a steam key. Still, better than paying $69.99 CAD and you can add it as a non-steam app to get the overlay.

Invisible Inc is probably the only one that would be an instant buy for me if it went on sale. Maybe Alien Isolation depending on how cheap it is. I just already have too many games that I have barely played or not played at all. I'm sure GabeN will cast his spell over me and I'll end up buying more than I intended though.

That's a bit optimistic I think, hoping for a sale on a game that hasn't been released. Might as well add Half-Life 3 while you're at it. :P

I've given up on most of my "backlog." If I haven't had the urge to play it yet, I'm probably never going to. Most of those games came from impulse Humble Bundle purchases anyway.

New rule is, I don't buy a game, no matter how good the sale, unless I am going to start playing it that day or very soon after purchase. Works really well since all games go on sale pretty regularly, and the price trend is always down, never up, so there's no reason to buy a game on sale now for 25% off if you aren't going to play it for 6 months, at which point it would be 50% or more off.

New method has saved me tons of money and still kept me very well entertained.

Random list for me:

Metro Last Light redux
Blackmesa (already have the original mod)
Old Blood
Witcher 3

Not all that hyped for this sale, but I'll gladly take any of these four on sale.

I will take those magic beans if you don't want them. As long as the bean stalk goes to the sky so the kids have something to climb ;)

Well there you go. Homeworld Remastered Collection for $14. Enjoy!

All three games I want are on sale, kind of. GTA V is only on sale as a bundle it seems like (which keeps the price at $60) and the other two I want have their prices reduced, but not as Daily Deals or Flash Sales, so I'll be waiting a bit longer.

In my case it's not even that I don't have the urge to play them, it's that I don't have the time.

Ya'll need to get on board with g2a.com. Witcher III has been on there for $30 since release. You pay, they email you a legit steam key. Nothing illegal or shady and I've used it a few times without issue.

It depends on where you buy on G2A.com as to whether something shady is going on or not. If you buy from the main store then it should be completely legit. If you buy from the Marketplace then you are buying from individuals which is where it gets hazy. Some people may be selling keys they bought and didn't want, or keys they got with a video card. Others may be selling keys from a foreign country where the price is cheaper which may or may not work in your country. Still others may have gotten keys illegally (stolen games or using stolen credit cards). In any of those cases you can get stuck and then have to depend on G2A.com to help you out.

That being said the marketplace can be a place to pick up keys for a cheap price. Just be aware of the risk you are taking when buying from the marketplace and not the main store.

And disappointment. Though Wasteland 2 for $20 is an all time low I believe and rather tempting. Also, Child of Light for $3.74 gives me hope that I will see Transistor and The Escapists for around that price.

So far the damage is less than $25...

Metro 2033 Redux (because I want to play it in Linux)
Eldritch
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (because ~$14 is how much I'd spend on a Blu-ray)
Ziggurat (because it's what Heretic should have been, and it even manages to run at 1152x720 on my MacBook Air if I'm conservative with the detail settings)

Unless GTA V goes on sale that's probably it for me right now. At least it's stuff to do while I'm laid up after surgery.

GTA V probably won't go on sale by itself during this sale. No biggie because you can get it on GreenManGaming for $45 right now and still get Steam keys.

I picked up Invisible Inc and I think that's it for me this year. I'm pretty much caught up on game buying til the new games start pouring in.

Just purchased Project Cars (25% off)
Wolfenstein: The New Order (75% off)

Have my finger twitching over Dead Rising 3 (50% off). It looks like a lot of fun.

Does anyone know if there is a program or website I can use to catalog my digital game collection automatically? Something that I can use to scan folders on my hard drive, GoG, Humble, Indie Royale, or Steam account and automatically just tell me what I have? I've accumulated so many that I keep almost buying games for $1 only to eventually find them buried in one of my bundle accounts. Its kind of sad, but it seems like a real time sink to actually catalog it all. Back in 2013 I just typed them up in a text file, but a lot has changed since then.
