Citrix desktops in grid view?

Tue Oct 18, 2016 10:17 am

So here's the problem. At work, we are looking to make 8 physical core i5 desktops go away and replace them with Virtual desktops running Citrix storefront. These machines are currently connected to one KVM and a single 19" monitor. The migration to VDI, while less overhead in the long run, also means that we are loosing out on the simplicity that the KVM offers for control over 8 of these machines. These machines are utilized by our operations department for batch processing (old single threaded system that we dont have the budget to recode and execute through CA workfront).  The challenge that has risen is trying to find a way to make managing all 8 machines at one console as easy as it was with the KVM and possibly improve upon what we have by finding a way to display all 8 desktops in a 4x2 grid on a 40" television, while also having one additional monitor that can be used to read/controll a specific 1 of the 8 desktops, by either clicking into one of the 8 windows and having it move to full screen on the other monitor, or have the other monitor running as admin and jumping into the individual sessions.

At the moment, the only way to make this happen will be to manually launch citrix storefront 8 separate times, log in 8 separate times (not much more hassle than what is done with the KVM), but then also manually rezise the applications and drag them in place on the screen.

So, does anyone out there know of a solution that can auto-snap applications into a grid or micro manage a subset of virtual machines in a citrix environment?
