HTML5 Notification Requests

Mon Nov 21, 2016 8:03 am

I know I can block the underlying notifications, but is there any way to prevent the pop-up request "Would you like to receive notifications from this site" from ever appearing. FF50.0, FWIW.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

There's a do not disturb button. Does that work?

edit: I guess that's session-only, which is dumb. :(
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

I've never accepted a notification request, and all "do not disturb" does is per-session prevent notifications from coming from sites that you have authorized to push you notifications. I'm looking to block the initial request pop-up and I've yet to find a way to do so. Since they come from a separate domain, thankfully noted in the popup, I suppose I could black-hole that domain in my HOSTS file.

Oh, and about:permissions no longer exists in FF 50.1.0.

The only thing I enable notifications for is work-related Slack stuff. At least it is opt-in, but it would be nice to be able to disable the popup entirely by default.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Alas, to allow a browser to do so appears to break strict W3C conformity.

Just set both to false. Will report back in a day or so.
