audio books to USB

Mon Dec 25, 2017 10:27 am

Does anyone know of a good, easy to use, program for putting CD audio books onto a USB stick that reliably gets the numbering of chapters and so forth right?

My dad has a ton of CD audio books, and likes to listen to them while driving. But his new car doesn't have a CD player. So he's tried moving a couple to USB sticks... the problem is the car stereo is kind of dumb at reading the numbering of the files, so chapters are coming up out of order. He isn't very computer savvy at all - in large part because he's not interested - so ideally it'd be fairly automated.

I've seen a couple of things online but was hoping to hear from someone who's actually used something like this, and can recommend a good one.

CDex can be configured to put the track number in the file name and in the file properties, and once it is set up, it is very automated. However, you might have to walk him through the initial setup. If this does not fix the problem, he may need to investigate if the stereo was unintentionally set to shuffle the tracks on the thumb drive. FYI, there is a portable version of CDex.
