Is Wintunes any good these days? It started off excellent and became pretty awful at some point.

Still pretty awful, but you need it in order to manage iDevices from a PC.

Right on. Never need that desktop client and the 300 other things it installs again. (Usually it wasn't too bad, but sometimes it was.)

Does it work fine for you? With me, it's not that case and I don't know why it's very slow.

I’m running it on three Windows 10 PCs. Performance is fine. What is your hardware?

"How-To Geek" sent out a notice to subscribers to their newsletter earlier this past week. I followed their guide Avoid iTunes Bloat w/the Windows Store Version and had no issues. Only works with Win 10 according to the article. I mostly use Foobar2000 now for music file management and EAC for converting to FLAC files.

Everything is slow with a 250GB HD. You can try a defrag, but this thread is about the win10 specific version.

FYI to anyone doing a clean install of Win10 - install iCloud first, before installing iTunes from the Windows Store. If you install iTunes first, iCloud will throw an error during the install and refuse to complete. It took me a few rounds of installs and googling to find this apple support document: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205788 and even that isn't super clear about the root cause.

1) install iCloud
2) install iTunes from Windows Store
3) good to go
