I wonder how my old but carefully tuned x79/Ivy-E system would do. It's a 4930K at 4.6GHz with quad-channel DDR3-2400 CL10 memory. I'd especially like to know how single-threaded performance stacks up against Ryzen at say, 4GHz.

But it only seems to be available through the Windows store? Guess I won't be running this benchmark till next January!

Not sure why Maxxon doesn't just list it on their site considering it's supported on Windows 7 which is decidedly lacking in Windows Store access but oh well.

Thanks for posting that. Scaling seems about in line with 2x Threadripper 1950x results, though at higher clocks. Interesting that 4 more Intel cores are able to outscore this at significantly lower clock speeds... I wonder which factor contributes more to this result: the AVX advantage for Intel or memory bandwidth limitation for Threadripper?

Guessing it's the AVX advantage (though I have nothing to back that up, just a hunch).

I'm guessing better AVX512 as well, the Xeon Golds are currently paired only with 2133 RAM.

The bandwidth bottleneck on Threadripper would be due to 4 dies sharing 4 channels of RAM, where 2 sockets of Xeon golds should be 6 channels per socket.

I really wish there was a Linux build. I have a few monster machines that would eat this for breakfast that would be fun to bench (dual 32 core EYPC w/ high clocks and 16 channels of DRAM).

I don't know about R20, but R15 ran just fine for me using WINE.

Frankly I'd be more interested in getting straight Embree to process the same scene directly where I could get 100% of the rendering performance.

It's up for sale, rest of the RAM deployed elsewhere. I'll re-test it over the weekend fully populated.

Ran the test on some of mine. I only ran the multi-threaded benchmark, as ST was taking too much time on the older machines.

This portable version should work on a recent version of Windows

I actually used this version to test my Windows 8.1 laptop. Yeah, not moving to 10 on that one because of audio issues.

Lower ambient today (24°C) so tried again (my previous run was at 26°C ambient):

9900k stock:

So MCE on is now slightly faster than stock, but performance is still entirely limited by cooling. 200 point increase from a 2°C drop in ambients lol
There are folks on /r/overclocking that are getting 5100+ scores out of 5GHz 9900k when there's zero throttling.

Wow, that's not great compared to my Xeon 6130's. Twice the cores and ~10% slower? Is that solely AVX?
