I am able to do it with a 2800+ and a 6800nu.

Try using the purevideo decoder to see if that helps.

Also try using Quicktime 7.1, it fixes some issues with H.264

QT 7.1 doesn't use hardware acceleration. Use the latest Beta Forceware drivers with Nero Showtime for h.264 hardware acceleration.

I don't know what happened with Quicktime 7.1. The previous version played the 720p H.264 MOV's just fine with a min 15FPS on my Celeron D 2.8 with a GF FX 5200. 7.1 turned those same videos into a slideshow. Kind of sad for "fixing" issues with H.264 playback.

You can use ffdshow SSE version to get about 40-50 % utilization in 720p MPEG4 video encoded with xvid or divx. Its vastly superior in cpu utilization than both divx and xvid decoders.
