One of the times I won was a year when I missed the draft and the autodraft just used the default rankings. It was kind of embarrassing, though of course I did do some in-season managing and roster manipulation. One positive about having relatively few teams in the league is that a lot of good players go undrafted -- and of course others emerge during the season -- so even a disastrous draft can be overcome if you're willing to stick with it, take some chances, and completely turn over your roster. (I hear about 16+ team leagues where they don't even allow in-season trades and, well, I guess some people like the challenge but man, that just sounds like no fun at ll).
