Don't worry, I'll fix that for you. Just be sure to sit Cruz, Archer, Gattis, [...] and Aoki

Well, ****.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/17/sport ... s-fbi.html

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors are investigating whether front-office officials for the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful teams in baseball over the past two decades, hacked into internal networks of a rival team to steal closely guarded information about player personnel.

Looks like they were after the 'Stros' "Moneyball" DB.

To be honest, given how the stats people now own baseball, I'm surprised that this is the first public event of this nature. Even as a Yankees fan (thanks, GrandDad) I always figured them to be the first caught.

Yeah but the Astros? in 2013 the Astros were epic bad. Maybe they were looking for what not to do?

In other news, its pretty easy to set your lineup every day when you have 4 guys on the DL that you really don't want to cut.

The Astros, because of Luhnow's ties to STL. From what I can tell, they found the Ground Control website and just tried old passwords. The old passwords worked and they got in and...gave it all to Deadspin, apparently. Completely bizarre. I have to think it was some relatively young, low-level front office type that wasn't using his brain at all. And if it goes higher than that, then throw the book at them.

Yes, the Deadspin summary is hilarious.

That was pretty good, and accurate - everyone is an idiot. Drew Magary's 12-year-old-style schadenfreude rant, OTOH, was pretty terrible. As much as I despise Gawker, I can't believe anybody would pay him to write that.

So this morning I refreshed my team page and the background went from black to white. There doesn't seem to be a preference in the settings page -- Yahoo has just suddenly changed the color scheme. Or is it just me?

(I get that we're at the halfway point in the season, but why do it on a Friday? And if they were planning to do this all along, why not at least time it to coincide with the All Star Game?)

Seems that Yahoo has decided that the UI will be the same for everyone.

The Tao of the Cub fan:

Bloody 'ell, I actually watched the Mets/Yankees game to the end just to ensure that I didn't get beaten by the dead team.

It's up to you now, Stiffie. Show this team no playoff wins.

EDIT: Not much hope of my Yankees taking all 3 from Toronto ala 1978 to take the division. After all, #20 has been retired.

I really enjoyed watching the Cubs win when many thought they couldn't. Here's hoping we don't have a Bartman style collapse like 2003 in the next series.

Wow. Even beer-league softball players know not to get that far off first on a liner to the left side, especially with someone in front of you. WTF was Cespides thinking?

Oh well, since I'd root for the Mets about as often as I'd root for the Red Sox, let's go Royals (which does seem odd from a life-long Yankees fan's perspective, Pine Tar Game & all).
