In a word: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Wow...the site now doesn't take a 90's era supercomputer to render. It also doesn't hurt my eyes any more. Sorry, I like the change :)

I dont like it. Its clunky at best. And the fact that they pretty much force you to make an account and log in to customize your view sucks even more.

I'm assuming you're referring to espn.com. Never used it before, but let me guess what's new:

Static top navigation that robs you of your anyway limited vertical space.
Infinite scroll, and automatic.
More AJAX!

And let me guess what the next round of changes will bring:

Background images, across the whole width, that peek through large vertical spaces in the top layer, scroll out of sync with the text, and that vary as you scroll down.
Videos for backgrounds!
Phasing out real HTML URLs in favor of Javascript ones.
Logout requires entering a submenu. Or maybe it's already like this?

Yeah, they're also looking for a new development manager. Redesigns that go over like a fart in a spacesuit can do that.
Do not meddle in the affairs of archers, for they are subtle and you won't hear them coming.

No its quite HTML5 with a dose of Jscript. The only thing I can say good about it is, "At least its a responsive web design."
