Fantasy Football Smack talk for TR Leagues?

Tue Sep 08, 2015 4:00 pm

Do we still do this? Or will it be another quiet season?

Well there should at least be a thread (like this one) to talk some smack if anyone feels so inclined :-)

All that being said, whiners suck. There's a fine line in between smacktalk and general whining, no?

I do miss the weekly game reports...

The yahoo ones are decent, sometimes the colorful language was just exquisite... :D

Well, Comcast took away the web space option I used to host those things and I'm not even sure if I have the old template files hanging around (i.e. HTML via Notepad).
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

My local sports team is better than your local sports team! :) Now, let's just see if I feel the same way about my fake football team after the draft tonight...

Here is one I did years ago when stiffie needed some help - WARNING BAD LANGUAGE in some of the comments :)

We should take turns doing this each week for the different leagues.

However, this thread isnt about the recaps, its about smack talk.

Are we gonna have any good trash talk this year or what?
Do people really get their feelings hurt?

The writeups would be easier now. When I threw in the towel, we had like 8 leagues. Now we got what, 2? 3?

I don't talk smack. I suck too much to talk smack.

We're down to 3 leagues and I've confirmed that I nuked the templates from the last time I did it (which I blatantly stole from you).

So I have the 3rd most points scored in the TR BBQ league, but the 2nd most point against, and I am 0-2 and in ninth place.

The only person I can talk smack to is the guy in tenth place, especially when two of his players scored -0.90, and one score 0.16 this week.
LMAO

The names are changed to protect the innocent, but I loved reading the yahoo recap.

Blank team clobbered #$!@%^+* 149.06 to 50.26, sniffing the record books in the process with the highest score of the season. This was a truly solid beating, with the 98.80-point margin of victory being the highest recorded in the league this season.

Toyota Roster Tune-up

Dry your tears, study more articles and forget that your 149.06 to 50.26 loss ever happened.
This is one of those mistakes that you continuously think about for ten years. Did not start Tom Brady, who scored 32.74 points to rank fourth in the league in scoring.
All that glitters is not gold. Picked up the Baltimore Ravens Defense, which scored 0.16 points against their projected 15.76.
#$!@%^+* could have used more points at WR, where blank team outscored them 60.60 - 13.80.
Who needs offense when the defense is so dominant!? #$!@%^+* got outscored 22.92 - 0.16 by Blank team at the DEF position.

Ugh. My team lost by 1.44 points this week and by 0.12 points last week. 0-2 is a bad way to start the season.

One receiver suspended, one on bye, one out with a sprained ankle... that means I'll be starting the good receiver with the lousy quarterback playing in a hurricane and the backup receiver with the awful backup QB playing indoors. :-?

2 starting WRs out injured (one till at least week 7), and 5 players scored <5 points this weekend. I got whooped by 30 points. :x

My auto draft team is sucking as well.

Edit: Oh, starting TE was on a bye as well. Reminds me of:

But for fantasy football.

I realized partway through the draft that week 7 would be challenging. My team has four players on bye, one on PUP.... I only have to choose which running back gets my sixth and final bench position.

My ENTIRE BENCH is bye week guys. I had to cut a guy I wanted to keep, so I could start a whole lineup this week.

Sounds like a bad management in your front office.

It could be worse though; you could be Frobozz, who scored 135 and still lost. :)

It coulda been worse......I was gonna make fun of you for leaving Brady on the bench, but then Luck went nuts lol

Heh, no hard feelings...........Yahoo gave you an "A" even though you lost; I got an "A-" when you beat me.

How about this. Drew Brees and Eli Manning are both riding the pine in all 3 TR leagues.

Despite my high draft pick of Drew Brees, his performance so far this season had been so lackluster that I benched him in favor of Andy Dalton, who I picked up off of the free agent list a few weeks ago.

I have good news/bad news regarding QBs.

Good news, in my none-TR league, my oponent was happy with the 300 yards and 3 TDs Tom Brady gave him Thursday night, but I started Eli.

Bad news, my QB search in my TR league keeps getting worse.
I thought I was being "wicked schmart" by starting Harvard guy Ryan Fitzpatrick, based on these pedestrian but steady point numbers for the season.

16.56
19.86
18.12
16.12
29.22
23.2

Of course, he gets hurt on the opening drive, and gives me 3.04 points.

Meh.. this year I've been sunk in most of my leagues :P

Stupid Peyton Manning...

Also, I thought Punt/KR returns scored points for the Defense/ST, but I don't see Denver's Punt Return TD scored for last week's game.. Not that it would make a difference...

What kind of scoring is your league doing?

I have Denver's Defense/ST in both my leagues and they had double digits in both, which is hard to do when u get only 1 sack and give up 27 points.
Here is the Yahoo stat line from the TRBBQ league in which I laid the smack done on stiffie last week.

Denver Den - DEF
152 Ret Yds, 1 Kick and Punt Ret TD, 1 Sack
Final (L) 27-24 @ Ind
11.30 Projected
13.08 Actual

Also, I have a question for Berserkben; do you like apples?

You traded Eric Decker to me this week for Calvin Johnson, and last night Decker had 85 Rec Yds, 1 Rec TD.

HOW DO YOU LIKE DEM APPLES?

It's the regular TR league.. Not sure what's up with it.. Anyway, looks like a correction was applied since it now shows 7 points.. Doesn't look like we do return yards in this league..
