They're listed above as Louisiana State.

It's a shame that so many teams are .500 or below getting into a bowl game. There's got to be a better system.

Expand the playoffs. Make it a true playoff system, 8 or even 16, we rank teams in the top 25 so why not. Then get rid of the unneeded bowls. I know this will hurt some of those stadiums' bottom line as they will lie dormant during this time period but meh.

An 8 team playoff makes the most sense to me. I have to think that's coming. 16 is probably too large of a bracket.

The current system is under contract for another 10 years (11, including this one). So, unfortunately, 6 or 8 is not going to happen anytime soon.

Another round (expanding to 6 or 8) would be relatively easy to do. Currently the season for all teams (besides Army and Navy) ends the weekend after Thanksgiving. The playoff games don't start 3.5 weeks after that. It would be easy to schedule a round (this year the Saturday would be the 19th).

I'm a UNC grad and we were NOT offsides!!!! I knew we would need a couple of breaks to beat Clemson. The Clemson punter going for it was one break, and the onside kick recovery was the other.

Ditto. I was on pins and needles Saturday!

I can't wait for the new years game, and hopefully the game on the 11th!

Anyone wagering on this game is either an alum or a real degenerate gambler.

That being said take Georgia State and lay the 4.

I'm hoping for a Michigan State title run. I suppose Clemson would be OK too. Anyone but Alabama, really. I don't like Nick Saban, and I dislike the SEC in general.

I feel the same. so here is my 2 cents: I have friends who are SEC alums/fans and who are generally insufferable when it comes to the SEC.....how much better they are than all other conferences, how much better their fans are too. A couple are even Alabama fans, and they believe championships are their birthright. Also, Saban's losing face is priceless.

We just take our college ball seriously in the south. And really you cannot debate the fact that the SEC is truly the hardest division in NCAAF. Every year they [the SEC] routinely eat each other up. But the proof is in the pudding:

SEC vs. ACC: 290-144-10
SEC vs. Big 12: 83-67-6
SEC vs. Big Ten: 83-57-2
SEC vs. Pac-12: 68-40-5

I also have to agree Alabama fans are insufferable.

Are those stats ranked games only? I don't really think a top-25 team beating an unranked team in any division is something worth crowing about. :P

This is part of it, fans tend to be insufferable when their teams win (hello Yankee fans), but really for me its mostly the universities themselves. The majority of the assbag coaches are in the SEC, and the universities sell their soul for W's, letting in kids who can barely sign their name because they're 6'5 and 290 and can run a 4.4. I hate the college sports system. If a kid is a dumbass but can ball, let him go to some minor league and ball and not waste his time (and in the case of State Schools, tax money) taking Intro to Football Theory 101, a class in which all the homework is done by "tutors." Leave college coursework for kids who can handle it, and let the dumbasses who can play, go play.

But then again I guess all NCAA schools do that to some extent. At least the ones that we watch on ESPN. I doubt that Middle Numbnuts State does.

Not quite as convincing there IMO.

/sigh

You can slice it however you want to (try) make the numbers look good in your favor (only 3 years in a decade below .500 that's way better than any other conference) but the overall numbers don't lie. SEC is the hardest conference in the nation.

Just think about it, Ignore the playoff or the BCS: you had 8 SEC teams in the top 25 in 2014, 5 as of right now this year, 7 in 2013, 5 in 2012, 9 in 2011, 6 in 2010, etc. etc. What other conference routinely puts more than three or four in the top 25? None. In fact if the SEC didnt eat its own self routinely I bet almost all teams would be ranked if they only played outside the SEC.

But I get it. You have to hate someone. Hell even I hate Alabama and Saban with a passion. I would much rather root for the other team regardless of who they are. LETS GO MICHIGAN STATE. (I doubt they will win but I will root for them!)

Oh I only hate the fans because they're obnoxious. I'm only rooting for the ACC because of Clemson, I don't really care about the various conferences. I'd love if we didn't even have them, but then we couldn't have a bajillion bowl games. :P

Not all fans are obnoxious. But yes the most obnoxious ones seem to come from the SEC.

But that's what you're doing. Slicing out how you want :) Here's another way: The SEC has won the 3rd most championships. Big 10 has 10 more, and Ivy has almost double! When you take big swaths of time, that's hard to do in any sport, and in college football with realignments and changes in the game over it's history, it's better to break things into eras.

Past performance is not indicative of future results.

Bowl records might also be better, since those are neutral field contents. Last year the SEC had the 3rd best bowl record (Conf USA and PAC-12 were above them by winning percentage).

AJ McCarron will attempt to become the first Alabama Crimson Tide QB to win an NFL game since Jeff Rutledge in 1987. (3 years before McCarron was born)

How can such a winning program not produce a decent NFL QB for almost a generation?

Running game and defense. Recent Alabama Squads do several things very well: Control the line of scrimmage on offense and defense, offensive rushing, opportunistic defense. They don't put up a lot of points against quality opponents (unlike say an Oregon or Baylor) but they stop their opponent and make the most of opportunities.

Look at the "quality" players (defined by Pro Bowl or Super Bowl appearance) players drafted recently: 3 defensive lineman, 1 WR, 1 OL, 2 RBs, 3 LBs.

And NFL quality quarterbacks are hard to find and build. Look at Brady, he wasn't much in college but his success in the pros is among the greats. Look at recent Super Bowl winning QBs (other than Brady): Flacco (Div I-AA) and Wilson (NC State and Wisconsin). How about Rodgers (Cal)? The two young guys that show promise, Luck (Stanford) and Newton (Auburn) are the only recent high draft picks to show something in the Pros are somewhat of anomaly, though it is too early to judge more recent draftees....
