I presume it was Verstappen's fans, for running him off in Germany some weeks ago.

I guess... Verstappen didn't exactly run a clean race himself today though

arunphilip wrote:While that was a nice race, particularly with Hamilton and Alonso able to make their way forward very impressively, I came away disappointed.
If only we'd had a nice and open fight - with Nico, Verstappen, Räikkönen, Vettel and Ricciardo all slugging it out on such a beautiful track, it would have been great. Even if Nico had run away, we could have had fun with the other four. Instead, Vettel mucks things up for three of them and we were left with a case of "what might have been". I am a Vettel fan, but his driving this year hasn't been as hot as previously (letting aside team error and mechanical failures). Coming to another driver I like, Verstappen's defence might be legal, but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. In contrast, Perez's overtake of Massa showed how racing can be aggressive yet respectful.
Hamilton must be celebrating - between his podium and the fact that he has 3 new power units, this has been a near-perfect weekend for him.

He just seems to think cars will disappear if his front wheels are even the slightest bit ahead of them (it was Raikkonen he hit this other time too, although at least they weren't teammates at that point)
travbrad wrote:As for Verstappen's defense being "legal", that seems to change from week to week depending on the Stewards... Whether they are going to hand out penalties or not there just needs to be some consistency, but I think you'd get more consistency if you rolled some dice and let that decide who gets a penalty.

Alonso pitted to grab fresh tires with three laps to go so it is a rather misleading time. The sad thing is that it is McLaren's first fastest lap in 24 years.
arunphilip wrote:Its Honda's first fastest lap in 24 years, not McLaren's. I'm sure McLaren has had its fair share of fastest laps when powered by Mercedes in the last decade or so.

While that is definitely a good sign it is tough to see both McLaren's being beaten by a Hass which qualified farther down the field.
