AFC Champions - New England Patriots
Jacksonville Jaguars 20 at New England Patriots 24

NFC Champions - Philadelphia Eagles
Minnesota Vikings 7 at Philadelphia Eagles 38

The Vikings are a good team. I know that they were on the road, but the Eagles still just manhandled them, and Foles looked really good, too.

superjawes's Super Bowl LII pick (prediction and preference: Philly, Philly!

..and while a 6 year slump is bad, it's not exactly: never, ever, won a game.

I wasn't watching football that much then (or now even), but I had a *really* good reason.

-my local team at the time was:

-the Houston Oilers. :o (..now don't you feel bad for bringing up the '80's and '90's?) :P

I wasn't watching football that much then. My local team at the time was the Houston Oilers. :P
In those 7 seasons, the Patriots were 36-75, with no playoff appearances, including a 1-15 season in 1990 and 2-14 in 1992. Meanwhile... The Oilers in that Jerry Glanville + Jack Pardee and Warren Moon era went to the playoffs in every one of those seven seasons, going 70-41 in the regular season and 3-7 in the playoffs. Maybe you blocked that out when Moon was traded to the Vikings before the 1994 season and the Oilers moved to Nashville in 1997.

No, it was more that every time the Oilers had a chance, they pissed it away - and it was utterly predictable. (..not a super slump situation.)

It was so expected that few people went to home games; Houstonians wouldn't pay for a new stadium because of this - and so they became the Titans.

-the "run and shoot" turned into the run and .. (well, you know.)

I do remember Moon being quite well-liked for about 4 years, Houston (and many other cities) place to much emphasis on a few players (w/ exorbitant paychecks) - and not enough on the team as a "whole".

Not an Eagles fan originally since I grew up in FL but I am enjoying the enthusiasm around me since I now live near Philly and many of my local friends/coworkers are excited.
Will Bird Bot make it to Minnesota intact?

I think it will have a GPS tracker set on it and can monitor here:
http://wmmr.com/2018/01/25/bird-bot-rov ... ic-raptor/

or will it wind up a roadside casualty like hitch bot?

Super Bowl LII: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots

I mentioned it earlier, but I think that Philadelphia should win this game. I also would prefer that, but I feel like the Eagles have been severely underestimated since Wentz got injured (I may have mentioned that), and they are ready to win it. They also seem to have the right attitude to keep pounding their opponent until a comeback is impossible. (Looking at you, Atlanta!)

Super Bowl LII: Philadelphia Eagles 41 vs. New England Patriots 33

I saw someone ask: "How can a game this high scoring seem so boring?"

Answer: Because nobody wants to see the Patriots win another Super Bowl.

Now that this one is over...I'll admit, it was a very good game. And Nick Foles will be the greatest backup QB of all time.

Philly's win last night also brings up some fun trivia looking at Super Bowls for entire divisions.

1) The NFC East is the ONLY division to have 4 Super Bowl Champions. The Bills, Chargers, and Cardinals could complete their divisions with Super Bowl wins (probably won't happen any time soon).

1.5) The AFC South has the worst championship coverage, with the Indianapolis Colts being the only team to win the big game. (This shouldn't be a huge surprise. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans are relatively new franchises with 0 appearances.)

2) The NFC East is also the dominant division when it comes to the Super Bowl at 13 wins (Cowboys @ 5, G-Men @ 4, and 'Skins @ 3). The next nearest divisions are the AFC East and North at 8 Lombardis each. Unsurprisingly, the NFC East also leads appearances at 21, followed by the AFC East at 20, then AFC West at 16.

3) The AFC East leads the League with 12 Super Bowl losses (5 for NE, 3 for Miami, and 4 for the Buffalo). The AFC West comes in at #2 with 9, and the NFC East has 8 losses.

3.5) The NFC South has the worst win % in the Super Bowl. 2 wins in 6 appearances (33.3%). The AFC South and East are tied with 40% win % (2 in 5 and 8 in 20, respectively).

3.5.5) The top win % goes to the AFC North at 66.7% (8 in 12). It should not surprise you that the NFC East is #2 in win % at 61.9%. Also worth mentioning is the NFC West as the last division above 50% in the Super Bowl at 53.9% (7 wins, 13 appearances).

That catch by Foles was great, but it added a bit of insult to injury since Brady dropped his pass earlier in the game.
