Topic reminds me of the ending of the joke about the hunter and the bear....

Football: as much a strategy sport as a physical one. Games play like a turn based RPG. Each team selects a play (move), then they execute the play.

Wrestling: basically LARPing.

Does that help?
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

Seriously, though, there are a lot of us "normies" that like/work in tech and also like to watch/play sports. GADZOOKS.

You mean the WWE.

I was an amateur wrestler for 15 years, and I can assure you, it's not that similar to LARPing.

Oh btw, I'm a tech nerd too. GASP! SPORTS AND TECH ZOMG THOSE DON'T EXIST. I also swam, played football, basketball, golfed, got a 4.0 in high school, and a Physics degree. So, piss off with your stereotypes. If you don't like something that's totally fine. To assume that because people here enjoy tech means they don't like sports is ignorant.

I didn't say that the stereotypes apply to everyone, but I think that if we give an IQ test, people who watch WWE and Football will score lower then everybody else.

Duuuude. I'm seriously gonna circle back to the weed, but at this point i'm sure that you don't have enough.

I still think you should consider mushrooms, toad, or some other severe hallucinogens because i think they could maybe tweak your perspective on things a bit.

If those don't work out there's always electro convulsive therapy too.

I started playing hockey at the ripe old age of 45. I was intimidated by sports guys as they were so obsessed and I knew nothing about it, and none of my friends were into it. I should have ignored all that and started when I was in high school like I wanted. I absolutely LOVE playing hockey, but just too damn old to be good enough to say I am anything but a Z-league player.

Al least I can now skate backwards proficiently and have occasionally accidentally scored. I have been told I have gone from clueless to being annoyingly good at getting in the way.

Even "most" is probably a stretch.

Why do we have a sports section?

Cars = CRASHES
Thrown balls = PHYSICS
Teams = STATISTICS

There, now everyone can GEEK OUT!!! :D

Don't tell whm that there are organizations that constantly work to better understand (and more importantly predict) athletes' performance. Mathematical formulas that try to quantify a player's value and his contributions to his team. There's a recent, decidedly-geeky podcast talking about the different methods that groups use to determine player value as wins above replacement-level players (usually referred to as WAR).

But no, this doofus has it right. True Geeks would never engage in sport. :roll:

That actually occurred to me when I downloaded it to make my modified version. I re-compressed it with JPEG after the edit anyway figuring most of the damage was already done, and that compression artifacts had likely already ruined the chances of getting a better compression ratio out of PNG.

Chrispy_ wrote:

I suppose if I'd been a true nerd, I would've at least tried both and chosen whichever one resulted in a smaller file, or processed the image to remove compression artifacts, making it more amenable to PNG. :wink:
