No surprise that Alabama is everyone's favorite in pre-season polls.

Urban Meyer is toast.

http://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-foo ... trvfnimxjt
Urban Meyer's knowledge of Zach Smith's domestic violence started at about the same time that Aaron Hernandez was Meyer's star tight end.

https://www.facebook.com/TheBrettMcMurp ... 7522486968
Two of Meyer’s closest friends – Hiram de Fries and Earle Bruce – asked her to drop the charges. “He said ‘if you don’t drop the charges, Zach will never coach again,’ ”
No one really knew the hell Courtney was going through except the authorities, family members, members of Ohio State’s coaching staff – and their wives.
“I know why nothing was done. Everyone was out to protect themselves. Zach had people that were far more powerful than I would ever be that were protecting him and for the wrong reasons. I think people that knew (about the abuse) should have helped me. Instead, they chose to enable an abuser.”
"Everyone – all my family – said don’t call 911. If you do, he’ll get fired.”
Zach Smith texted "I will kill that bitch and everyone involved. For ruining my life. F--- all of you.”
Zach to Courtney: “Just know that now… I will find you when your out. I will come seek the douche your with. I will f--- him up to the point that no one will recognize him”
“Zach once told me,” said Courtney, “if he ever got fired and this all comes out: ‘I’ll take everyone at Ohio State down with me.’ ”

Ugh what a cluster! Iowa State opening game canceled by non-stop lightning. They played roughly 5 minutes of football before it was all over.

So now, mega-rivalry Iowa State at Iowa is their first game of the season, while Iowa has a game of working the kinks out already under their belt.

Hoping Matt Campbell's disciplined approach is enough to overcome the downsides! He did it once before in 2015, his last season at Toledo, where they went on to beat Arkansas in the next game, and ironically, beat Iowa State in the very next game.

Still very disappointing after all the pre-season hype to get only five minutes of football (and nearly three hours of waiting) before calling the game.

Those are some really highly ranked teams that haven't won a game this season. Especially Washington @ #9. Who'd they play, Clemson?

I guess that’s fair. Still seems a little odd for a week 1 poll to have a 1-loss in the top 10.

Washington is pegged as the PAC-12's only shot at a playoff team. If the voters knocked them down any further, there would be less interest from west coast sports consumers.

I just want to say, as someone that graduated from the University of Kansas and was a student when they won an Orange Bowl, the past two wins have been a nice change from the last decade. They've been the worst D1 team for at least the past five years IMO and winning a couple games, regardless of opponent, is nice.

As a Cyclone, I can relate! Enjoy it while it lasts! These moments can be fleeting, but they make sitting through the losses feel worth it.

So wish Iowa State hadn't had its first game canceled. The Iowa game was a disaster because Iowa had that first game to work out the kinks while ISU didn't. The improvement from week one to week two was phenominal, but still not enough to overcome Oklahoma. As good as the Sooners are, that game was winnable for the Cyclones.

Kyler Murray is the Real Deal, though! He may be even better than Baker Mayfield. It would be entertaining to see him go in the first round of the NFL draft and have to decide between a first round baseball and first round football offer. Has that ever happened?

Was Tim Tebow's ring of honor acceptance speech between the first and second quarters an inspiration to the Gator players?
http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =401012301
Tim Tebow is just the sixth member of the ring of honor at Ben Hill Griffin stadium, joining Steve Spurrier, Jack Youngblood, Wilber Marshall, Emmitt Smith and Danny Wuerffel.

My Iowa State Cyclones finally show their full potential, beating OSU. It has taken them five games to find their offense, and somehow it materialized in a dual-threat freshman quarterback. He was truly dynamic.

Now that he's no longer a surprise, we'll see how he fares against a potent West Virginia team that will have game film to review.
