It took two overtimes for the apple cup and the official worst team in (div 1) football to be decided today.

SI
Yes, this was the Small One, the battle of the beatens, the movable object meeting the resistible force. There were only tomorrows. When these two teams get together, nothing can happen. This game was for a marble.

Alabama wont make it past Florida in the SEC championship game. Texas Tech will lose to OK State or Oklahoma. maybe both

if Oklahoma actually had any defense at all, they'd be a superb team.

Oklahoma seems to have grown a bit of a defense, but more importantly they've developed a rushing game.

So where would a 1-loss alabama figure in there? December 7th is going to be a night to watch for sure.

Higher than a 2-loss Florida team. ;)

Assuming Florida wins and Oklahoma doesn't choke, it's probably the two of them playing in the "championship" game on the 8th. That drops Alabama back to the Fiesta or the Sugar, probably the latter (where they may end up facing Utah), setting up USC vs Texas in the Fiesta (an interesting rematch). Of course, Oregon State very easily could lose to Oregon in the Civil War this Saturday (especially since the more phenomenal of the Rodgers brothers is injured and likely won't play), which would put USC into the Rose and give Alabama a shot at Texas in the Fiesta. Which is probably the arrangement most people would prefer (it avoids re-playing the Oregon St-Penn St game from earlier in the season and allows the SEC Big 12 fans two opportunities to argue).

The students weren't really throwing at their own team. But, like the team, the can't hit what they're throwing at either.

Here's a nightmare scenario, keeping in mind I didnt look over the rankings to intently.
Alabama loses to Auburn by 3 points or less in the final seconds.
Bama destroys Florida in the SEC championship.
OU blows out OSU .
Texas handily beats Texas A@M.
Oregon State beats Oregon for the Pac 10 championship and a trip the the Rose Bowl.
Does this pit OU vs Texas for the championship?

Alabama wont beat Florida. .. i guess if 75% of the starters on the florida team suddenly took sick.. then they might have a chance.

It'll be Florida vs Big 12 champ.

Like I said my nightmare scenario, I suspect no one saw Ole Miss beating Florida or Oregon State beating USC.It's hypothetical. If the last 2 college seasons have proved most anyone can beat anyone on any given day.Weren't the so called experts proclaiming USC tha best team ever under Pete Carrol before they lost or how no one gave Florida a remote chance of beating OSU 2 years ago for the championship. At this point the current BCS sysyem really sucks, bring in a 8 team playoff or lets go back to the old conference tie -ins and declare a winner after all the bowls are played.

So what are your thoughts on the Big 12 and the three-way tie between Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech? Personally, and yes I am an OU fan, I think that OU deserves the game vs. Missouri.

First of all: Yes, I am aware that Texas beat OU 45-35 on "neutral ground". The game is in Texas, there's no way that can be considered neutral. Yes, I know it's roughly the same driving distance between the two campuses, but it's still in Texas. If the game was held in New Mexico, Arkansas, etc., then I would be fine with Texas getting the nod.

Secondly, we beat Texas Tech 65-21. That's the same Texas Tech that beat Texas 39-33, so that should rule out the "head-to-head" advantage Texas might have when it comes to the BCS scoring.

Thirdly, Texas' last game was against A&M (an un-seeded team) at home. Was anybody surprised that Texas won? And what about Texas Tech? They barely won against Baylor (aka the doormat of the Big 12, and un-seeded) at home. Oklahoma on the other hand, beat Oklahoma State (ranked #12 by the BCS) 61-41 at Oklahoma State.

Can somebody point out what I'm missing as to why anybody but Oklahoma should be playing in the Big 12 championship? Seriously, I can't come up with anything.

All valid points, being a closet Sooner fan I'd agree, however the head to head will make a difference in some voters minds, after all Texas' game against TTu was their 4th in a stretch against ranked teams wasn't it?.As for the neutral site at the Cotton Bowl ,imo, thats as neutral as you can get with OU and Longhorn fans divided right down the middle of the stadium.Personally at this point I'd just assume see undefeated Utah and Boise St. play for the championship, that would certainly shake up the system.

actually.. it could still happen.
Humans will likely vote OK 1, Florida 2, Texas 3.
Computers may have Texas 2 still..

I'd actually kinda enjoy that happening simply because it will cause another uproar.
a playoff is what we need.

Oklahoma vs Florida will be interesting. I still wonder if Texas isnt the better team, but OK has definitely improved since their loss.. they can now run the ball and their defense is a little better.

haha the coaches have indeed voted OK 1, Florida 2 & Texas 3.
so, there is still an outside chance the computers will have Texas above Florida enough to counter the human poll ?
that would be funny. I can just hear the commentators yelling about the computers on tv now.

There was actually a nightmare scenario where that Cincinnati-Hawaii game late last night actually mattered in the computer rankings. Because Oklahoma had beaten Cincinnati this season, and Florida had beaten Hawaii, if Hawaii had won against Cincinnati it would've dropped Oklahoma's strength-of-schedule enough to put them into 3rd, behind Florida and Texas. Now, the computer rankings are only 1/3rd of the total, so that wouldn't have been enough to knock OK out of the "championship" game by itself. But if OU had also looked less dominant against Missouri last night and influenced a few more of the human voters....

Poor Boise State. Undefeated and ranked 9th? You get to go to the Poinsettia bowl! (or something like that, probably facing the likes of TCU). At least San Diego is nice (and warmer than Idaho) this time of year....

this is possibly going to be one of the worst bowl seasons ever.
Oklahoma vs Florida - this one ain't so bad.
USC vs Penn St. - crazy. no one in the big 10 deserves any bowl game. they all suck.
Texas Tech vs Mississippi - uhh Mississippi is improving but not enough.
Texas vs Ohio St. - Ohio St. is worse than Penn St. and they're playing the 2nd or 3rd best team in the country?!??! hahaha
Alabama vs Utah - yes, I've said Alabama was overrated, but they're better than Utah.

the only game that looks to be exciting here is OK vs Florida.

I'd like to see:
OK vs Florida
Alabama vs Texas
USC vs Texas Tech
Penn St. vs Northwest Missouri State. (Div II) :D

OK will lose another big game like they always do. The Rose Bowl will be the typical USC trouncing whatever the Big 10 decides to put up for the year. The rest of the games are nothing to be excited about. How on earth Ohio State deserves to play Texas this year is beyond me. Every year I become less of a fan of College Football.

I think OK has a chance.. but I'm not entirely sure they wont lose either. It all depends on if they show up. The good news for OK fans is the team is definitely improving.. the bad news is there is more than a month for their players to get fat and lazy. :D

I'd say if the OK line holds up & they can at least have a few rushing plays for gains they will win. simple as that. on the other hand, if Florida can get through the OK line like Texas did then Florida has a chance to pound them.

Its all about the Florida defense vs the OK offense and nothing to do with the Florida offense. of course florida will score, but unless their D can stop OK, they will get outscored.

I'm surprised to see Ole Miss in there. But, bowl games are much more about which team's fans will bring the most cash to the city hosting the bowl than they are about which teams are the best.

Notre Dame snuck in somehow. How sad is that?
