NFL 2009 - Week 16

Thu Dec 18, 2008 3:26 pm

This should be a weekend to remember when it comes to the (HOPEFUL) caliber of games being played.

With that said, let's get to it:

Thursday, Dec.18
Indianapoilis @ Jacksonville - I understand that the Jags will try to put a damper on Indy's game right now, but I think the Colts may pull off this win.

Saturday, Dec.20
Baltimore @ Dallas - Defense people . . . .Defense

Sunday, Dec.21
Cinci @ Cleveland - WHY????
Pittsburgh @ Tennessee - I am watching this one
San Fran @ St. Louis - No Frank Gore, no wins!!!!
San Diego @ Tampa Bay - sorry SD
Miami @ Kansas City - You think the coach will be fired after this season???
New Orleans @ Detroit - History will be made.
Arizona @ New England - its cold AND snowing.
Houston @ Oakland - nuff said.
Buffalo @ Denver - If J.P. starts, Buffalo is absolute toast. If Trent is back, they have a chance. Denver loses weird games at the weirdest times.
NYJ @ Seattle - my upset pick of the week.
Atlanta @ Minnesota - I think the Falcons have enough of a defense to win this battle.
Philly @ Washington - Defense people . . . . .Defense.
Carolina @ NYG - Hixon keeps missin em.

Monday, Dec.22
Green Bay @ Chicago

What a weekend!!!!
. . . this is the digital projection of your mental self. . . .

I don't think the falcons can stop Peterson effectively. If they concentrate on him too much it will just open up the passing game, and Minnesota's getting better there.

New Orleans @ Detroit - I like this Orlovsky kid
Arizona @ New England - They have a faint heartbeat of a running game. The Cards have zero running game

NYJ @ Seattle - Favre lost it
Atlanta @ Minnesota - I think the Vikes pull it out
Philly @ Washington - Philly D is making bad teams look bad. And Washington is a bad team.

Boy, I was expecting a good, hard-hitting, clean game between Tennessee and Pittsburgh. Instead, ROFLsburger doesn't really particularly care to win this game.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

All Minnesota teams are prone to major cock-ups. 4 turnovers with plenty of almosts. The Falcons are playing like a very well-coached team without a lot of superstars.

I was right about Peterson's effect though... they've wrapped him up well but opened up the passing game, shiancoe has been very good this game.

Ben tried to do way too much today, beyond his normal "take a few sacks, make a few plays" self. The result was ugly with 2 pics and what, 3 or 4 fumbles? He looked awful. Our defense was OK, but we gave them 21 points. Yuck.

I can't believe they were showing the Bucs/Chargers game here instead of the Steelers/Titans game. That's twice (at least) they've chosen some crappy AFC West game over a Pittsburgh game now (last time was Broncos/Jets over Steelers/Patriots ).

I love how the leading rusher in the league had 3 fumbles. The announcers were asking if you could, at this point, trust the leading rusher in the league with the ball.

The vikings lost because the Falcons are better coached. They don't have the raw talent, but they sure as hell play consistently. They come out ready to play consistent football.

Coaching is what kept the Vikings in the game. Fumbles are what caused them to give up way to many points. Put Atlanta at a field advantage all game and on a few occasions take points away from themselves. Those fumbles were huge. Now, the announcers are morons because they over react and hardly ever have a clue. Peterson is still there go to guy and any movement away from that plan will result in pain for the Vikings, but he does need to work on holding the ball. Peterson has 8 fumbles on the year, Michael Turner on the other hand has 2. Big difference, fumbles are HUGE, just as game impacting has interceptions.
