It's a pain in the butt to have to pick a thread loc though for those people who say "I've got $150-250, which video card on the market should I buy?" If we can't act maturely in a shared graphics thread then we can get banned.

As Corrado and Astro said why not have a consumer electronics section instead of limiting it to displays?

What if I want to talk about dvd players or other a/v stuff.
In other news, I am half asleep.

Projectors would go into visual haven, receivers would, by and large, go into echo vale. At least that's what I think.

Seems like bloat to put it into the forum software - who wants 50 different spell checkers implemented differently of 50 different forums rather than one done consistently in their browser? With the new changes and upgrade to phpbb3, are you planning on adding a spell checker mod?

GeekyGirl wrote:Sure it does, it's more to maintain and keep up to date. It's one simple mod that doesn't bloat the forum at all.
GeekyGirl wrote:If it didn't have to be installed in each forum, you installing it on yours would have given us that functionality here already.I'm not sure why you think there are different spell checkers that need to be installed in each forum. I have it installed in my forum and people really appreciate it.
GeekyGirl wrote:We also have a large number of people using firefox and opera, for which this feature would just be added bloat for no gain because they already have a superior spell-checking implementation in their browser.Since we have some spelling nazis here, it is a nice touch.

GeekyGirl wrote:I just think it's way too much hassle (and potentially cpu load) to run and maintain spell-checking on a per-forum basis. If users feel they need spell checking, they'd probably benefit from using firefox, opera, or another browser with spell checking built-in, or maybe using something like (no experience, just googled it) iespell That way they get the same spell checking interface, same dictionary, and better performance at every site they visit. I just think spell checking is best done on the host side.mattsteg wrote:GeekyGirl wrote:If it didn't have to be installed in each forum, you installing it on yours would have given us that functionality here already.I'm not sure why you think there are different spell checkers that need to be installed in each forum. Sorry I misunderstood you on this note..phpbb refers to each main category of topics as a forum so I thought you were referring to the multiple forums within the TR community.
