According to the system, you've had access since January of 2011. Are you getting an error message?

Never mind, see below...

I just added him 10 minutes ago without even looking to see if he was already there. Hope that's not an ACP version of crossing the streams.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Looks like it was a brain fart on my part. The date shown in the ACP page for group membership is the date the user registered on the forums, not the date they were added to the group.

It's been a few years since there's been a "crossing the streams" issue; from the time Kevin stopped visiting regularly until you got the ability to add group members, I've been the only one adding people.

I BELIEVE!!!! May I join the Religion and Politics forum. I'm watching for the next wave of responsible government.

I tried 'Beam me up Scotty, there's ....' and I have had no response. I hope the Federation has not splintered and disintegrated.

I wouldn't mind having access. I've been posting on message boards since 2003, including some really seedy ones (not 4chan, thankfully), and I've learned to gently wade through shark-infested waters and not blow my top. In other words, I'm not an agitator, but I can take agitation if presented.

Oh, and you need not worry that I joined just to spout my opinions. I've built multiple computers, and I found this forum looking for parts for my latest. I definitely intend on exploring the main sections.

This is my case, this is my keyboard, this is my mouse, and since 2004, this has been my favorite game, if that gives me any street cred... ;)

No "street cred" required to join R&P. You just need to not get yourself banned from the main forum, and you have to specifically request access.

It seems to do a reasonable job of keeping the "drive by trolls" out and helps maintain a family-friendly environment in the publicly visible forums.

On the other hand, participating in R&P may lower your street cred!

I believe that it's likely that a topic that I started last week (regarding a creative new malicious use of Twitter) must have been moved to R&P. The great thing about not participating in R&P is that I can't see any of the drama, including moderator logs that are generated when a thread gets moved to that forum.

There are definitely days where I feel like it is lowering something...

Count me in. I have read the "asbestos suit required" warning and admittedly morbidly curious about how rough it can get. Looking forward to an "interesting" time. :)

Not much point any more, as the R&P-ish stuff has spilled over into the BP, and none of the mods (myself included) seem particularly motivated to police it these days.
