I was rebuilding my home pc (CPU/RAM/Board/SSD), a friends (CPU/RAM/Board/SSD/Case), and another full build for another friend. Was able to boot at 5.3ghz, but not stable above 5.2ghz, setting a personal best ghz record. Then backed each chip off 100mhz for long term stability, followed up with a 24hr test. Figured I would share my results and some pics!

Nice. I make almost Identical notes to you when I push overclocks.

My most recent project was undervolting my RX480 when I got home on Sunday night. I was running 1200MHz@1000mv stable because I hadn't bothered doing in-depth incremental stability tests. After a couple hours of plotting the sweet spot in the frequency/voltage curve, I was long-term stress testing a 1275@935mv (the memory undervolt is the limiting factor) and that means I've broken the sub-100W barrier with an overclocked 1.25GHz RX480.

Nice results! It's always a good feeling when you can drop your temps and increase performance over stock settings.

I forgot to mention this, at stock settings, Chip 1 & 2 were 1.214v chips (in cpuz) while chip 3 was 1.246v (and could not break 5.0ghz).

Also going from 4.9ghz 4970k to this chip (even before I overclocked it) was a huge improvement in minimum frames on 2 games I play. ESO in crowded cities would always get "jumpy" with a minimum FPS around 30, now around 52. Borderlands 2, maxed settings (including Physx) also followed the same trend, no more 20-30fps brawls, double that. The only thing that changed was the processor/board, RAM went from ddr3 2133 to ddr4 3600, and a SATA SSD to M.2. Both of these games when they dipped down to low fps, dropped to low CPU and GPU usage in afterburner, I'm thinking memory speed is the factor.

Heck of a nice OC you got there Cole, congrats. Glad you can objectively see the difference, too. :)

Did you delid these chips? Could help with stability by providing more efficient heat transfer.

I wish I could build someone even one system with a budget like that.  You got 2 (plus your own).  Lucky dog.

Haha, it wasn't that bad. The full build (750D) was around $1900, the rest were much cheaper. My CPU/RAM/MOBO upgrade was about $680 and I am ebaying my 4970k, RAM, and a unused SSD (the board is already gone), to hopefully in the end recoup about all but a couple hundred. Honestly though I spent the last of my old mined bitcoins on all of this... well I have $10 left haha (10.227mBTC).
