You can get a GTX 1060 6GB for $280 right now.

On the flip side, do you think it would be worth waiting to see what Volta does not just on its own but to the market as a whole?
Also, are there plans in the near future for AMD to release mid-range RX Vega parts?

Does the similarly-configured RVZ01 lack them or are the side panels not ferromagnetic? The filters can be purchased for $8 each.I went with a full ATX mostly because of the room that an ATX tower affords. My last build was a mini-ITX affair inside a Silverstone RVZ01 and it was a giant pain not just to build but to clean.

..still not a great deal, but considering current pricing it's not horrible.

I suggest micro-ATX as the best overall form factor. Consider the $92 -10MIR Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 motherboard and a mid-tower micro-ATX case with good filters and room for quiet coolers and/or radiators.
Chrispy_ wrote:I've put together about two dozen Ryzen builds, 3 of which have not been work-related and I ordered 3200MHz DDR4 for those. One of the Ryzen 1600 builds and an 1800X build maxed out the memory controller at 2933MHz, but those were with four DIMMs. The other one was 2x8GB config and that ran at 3200 no problems.
The only R5 1600 I overclocked was the last one, using the Wraith Spire, and it wouldn't do 4GHz at 1.4V. I'm sure you could go higher with more voltage but I didn't want this thing to be noisy and [email protected] was probably at the stablility and noise limit, so I sent it off with my seal of approval at 3.8GHz/1.4V - it's not silent, but it's still pretty quiet even with the Wraith cooler.

Bought Windows OS, Office and anti-virus stuff there at fell-off-the-truck prices and never had anything go wrong. Office 2016 was a steal...
JustAnEngineer wrote:Other than the Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 mentioned above, the other micro-ATX socket-AM4 motherboard that appeals to me is the Asus TUF B350M-Plus Gaming, but I haven't spotted it for sale at my usual e-tailers.
My experience with Realtek NICs in recent times has been more satisfactory than my experience with Killer NICs. If the choice of network interface is the most important criterion for you, then consider one of these three ATX boards from Gigabyte, which all feature an Intel NIC:

IMO, thermal paste selection is more of a consistency preference. AS5 may not be the "best" product out there anymore, but I do like it's work-ability. It's been a while since I've researched TIM.

The SeaSonic Focus Plus series has S3FC fan control, which can be toggled to switch the power supply's fan completely off for totally silent operation at less than roughly one-third load.
The only other change that I would recommend for your build would be to get a higher-performing PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD like the Samsung 960Evo for your OS instead of the SATA M.2 SSD that you have on your current list.
