Generalizations like that don't apply to everyone's use case.

Though the build itself is somewhat newer, the tech in my current desktop is all 5+ years old. FX-8350 and 32GB of DDR3 RAM. And you know what? It's still overkill.

My wife's desktop PC is even older. Athlon64 X2 and DDR2 RAM. With the addition of an SSD a few years back, it is still perfectly adequate for what she does.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I knew before I clicked it what that song was going to be. Good work.

jbi your wife's PC is older than the one I replaced for my dad, and I thought THAT was ancient...Athlon II dual core with DDR2 and Nvidia onboard graphics.

Of course he'd still be using it if the PSU hadn't died and the motherboard's caps hadn't started leaking.

I have a 24 oz container about a quarter of of change and other one of the same type half full with food(stale?). My plan is save up any change and once both of them are full or three years passes, and cash in the change for building a new system. I will going back to school so working part time is out of the question.

Any thoughts?

Yes. A bigger jar, I think $1000 worth of coins will take up more room than a 24oz (720mL) container will hold :)

The other container is now empty and waiting for change...

Without straying into R&P territory, let's just say that change cannot come soon enough.
