Do I really need a upgrade?

Sat Nov 16, 2019 12:51 pm

According to Radeon settings My I5-4670k Will not work with mainly VR Games such as The Elder scrolls, Google Earth. I have an RX 480 8 Gig DDR 5 GPU, 16 gigs of Ram, SSD main drive, And if I try to overclock things get buggy. Will I notice a substantial improvement with a new system or Marginally better? I should also point out that I have a 4k monitor with Gsync.

Best way is to run a VR game of choice and find out. Don't overclock unless you really want to upgrade in the near future. I've had bad experiences with prolonged overclocking.

I would second Igor's suggestion to try it out before you spend any money. Having said that, you probably will need an upgrade if you want a smooth VR experience. Your CPU is getting a little long in the tooth, your GPU predates most VR implementations, and the nature of VR makes any stutters or hitches much more disruptive than they are when playing on a monitor. My prediction is the games will run, but the experience probably won't be nice.
