DDR or DDR2

Do u guys think DDR2/667 is better then DDR 400mhz , and when will AMD upgrade its ram to compete with intel.

it depends on who you ask . intel must think that ddr2 is better for there chips and amd thinks that plain ole ddr is better for there chips . as far as amd upgrading there ram to compete with intel it will probably happen next year sometime . amd doesnt need ddr2 to win most benchmarks . ddr2 is actually the same speeds as or slower than plain ole ddr is doing most things .

I think it depends on the platform, and I also think that each company has the type of ram that benefits its cpu the most.

P4's love bandwidth, while Athlon64's love low latencies... however, with ddr2 slowly reaching low latencies at mid-range level frecuencies, i think AMD will make the switch to ddr2 at just around the right moment..

production of DDR1 is still high, and AMD knows that it's cheap now. Why would they switch when performance gain is very very low and the cost is high? I think they'll wait until DDR2 production really takes off.

I'm impartial. Buying an Intel, don't consider it a bad thing to get DDR2. Buying an AMD, don't think you're missing out by using "old" tech.
