I have a friend working on a new build with an Intel 945GPM motherboard and a Intel D940 Presler 800Mhz Dual Core CPU.
The bios will not recognize his WD 1600 SE SATA 3.0 HD as a boot drive, but the Intel bios can see it. He has a DVD drive in place as the IDE primary.
He has checked that he has the latest bios.
If he uses a IDE HD as primary and the DVD drive a secondary, everything is fine. He just can't get is working with the SATA drive - and yes it is in the first SATA slot.
Also the bios recognizes the floppy drive, however it won't read a disk.
What could be causing these problems? Any ideas?
TIA
Steve
