The 980Ti can be up to 40 or 50% faster than a 970, and with this price cut, is now the same price.
I was waiting for the new 10xx cards, but maybe I'll just go this route.

I clicked through for a laugh, because there's a pretty big disparity between the prices you US guys get charged and what we see over here in Aus; if you set your region to Australia, the MSI's price is $1,081 excluding GST [@ 10%] and shipping. Given that we're running at about USD0.74 per AUD, someone's having a giggle all the way to the bank!
[edit:]
Just checked the EVGA card, it's AUD542 in cart, which seems much more reasonable [~4/3rds USD].

If there is a $230 RX 480 8GB, supposedly near GTX 980 performance, so probably can support that much VRAM, i think a lot more slow games might offer super texture modes.
blahsaysblah wrote:They are matching GTX 1070 price, so it's more to entice current 980/980 ti users to go SLI. Those are not clear inventory prices, just enough of nudge to get high spenders to splurge a little more while they get next gen card envy.
This is not them panicking or surprised. All of these sales were planned long ago.

They might be panicking in 8 days. We shall see!
But the cuts so far seem to be very minor. $125 officially of the 980ti isn't meaning at official $525 pricing, $50 off the 980 is still over the claimed 1080 MSRP. 970 cuts seem a really minor cut to stay against 470 and 480 when they will need a major cut.

DancinJack wrote:I do think it's a decent deal though. Can't really buy a 1070 right now, so for those that NEED that approximate level of performance right now, it's not a bad choice.
