GTX 1060 (3 GB) for less than $120

Fri Nov 25, 2016 3:43 am

I just got this deal:

https://jet.com/product/PNY-GeForce-GTX ... e6e3e461e1

Enter promo code TRIPLE15 (..to get $30 off), it tells you that you need to sign-up with Jet to get this promotion (..and do so, assuming you haven't done so before - and if you have you won't get this part of the deal), THEN

when it comes back to the page enter in the same promo code space: DROP20  (..to get $40 more off) BLACK FRIDAY ONLY!

Finally there is a rebate not listed on the website (but newegg has you covered):

http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesf ... 16nm13.pdf

Rebate is yet another $20 off

oops, should have been in the "hot deals" forum - my bad.

Not a bad price but I'm not sure about buying a card with less then 4 GB of graphics memory these days.

I'm hoping that's an understatement.  :P

I was going to get a 1070, but it really only offers about a third of an improvement in performance.  It is a substantial performance increase for people with high refresh rate monitors, or people playing a 1440P (or more), but at 1080P it's a hard sell - particularly when this is about 1/3 the price (w/ this deal).  Basically I can "pocket" the difference I would have spent on the 1070 and in two (GPU) generations use that difference saved for something much better.

BTW - I remember reading that the card, despite its low base clock, overclocks about the same as any other 1060.

The amount of memory doesn't seem to be too much of a limiting factor.  It seems to be about the amount of textures for most games, so if you have game settings on very high with regard to textures then it can overwhelm the memory capacity.  Lots of people have noticed this with a large grouping of texture packs and Skyrim.  Also,

-cut scene sequences seem particularly demanding in some cases.

Seems like the deal has expired, heh. At a price like that it isn't surprising.

And at that price it probably sold out real fast as well.

There's a single fan EVGA 1060 3GB for $170 here:

I guess most people will have to add tax to that.

The link still works for me, the deal should still be good until tonight.
