Prime Day 2019 is two days

I picked up a few Blu-rays at ridiculously discounted prices, but there wasn't much in the computer department that I had to have.

If the 10 TB Ironwolf had been on the list, I'd have added another one to my NAS, but alas, no.

So far I haven't seen anything to jump at. We need a new secondary TV. My 42" Westy is just sucking too much juice. CLose to 240W. Looks like I can go up in size to 50" and still be closer to 50-70W for $210. So far no Prime Deals can touch that.

I bought a 4 pack of Sengled A19 color changing bulbs. I bought a starter pack of three last year on Cyber Monday and really liked them. This price is cheaper by a good bit per bulb. I plan to use them for Halloween (and the supplement what I already use for Christmas).

I feel like I should have resisted...but $90 (down from ~$160 typical) for a Cuisinart 14-cup Food Processor was too good to pass.
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

Gosh when I was growing up our old RCA console CRT TV said 1000w on the back of it, which is probably why the cat liked to sleep on top of it.

I have a plasma that says 660w so my current OLED that uses only 350w is saving me money, right?

Yow, those are legit space-heater numbers. I would think those have to be max/peak. Have you ever checked the plasma at the outlet to see what it's actually pulling most the time?

Well of course the rating is a worst-case number with a white screen and the gamma turned all the way up. I calibrated the plasma long ago and the brightness ended up being turned almost all of the way down, which is good since all three technologies: CRT, plasma and OLED can suffer from burn-in which is just uneven phosphor wear. That's because all three technologies use phosphors in the screen which are directly emissive--they differ only in what activates the phosphors. LCDs use phosphors in the CCFL light bulbs or LEDs behind the panel so unless it's got local dimming, they're always going to wear evenly.

I recall putting a Kill-a-Watt on the plasma and it was only a couple hundred watts. I expect Usa's LCD to also only use a fraction of its rated power, otherwise the black levels would be eyewateringly bright!

Don't forget this is in the era of CCFL, not LED backlights. It gets quite hot.
