Here's an odd one: I got an email from Corsair a while ago stating my rebate submission was rejected. Then I got another email a few weeks ago saying it was reconsidered or something and now I got the check.

I was lucky, but I've certainly not gained confidence in rebates over the experience.

I recently got some Radio Shack rebates that made a 500w power supply practically free. So Radio Shack rebates seem to work fine if you ever come across one.

Current Newegg poll, "Would you buy an item because it offers a mail in rebate?" Make sure your NO gets counted!

I just wanted to say that Lowe's sent me back a $60 rebate check for the delivery of our stove. And they also gave us a $50 gift card to use at their store later. Lowe's FTW! :)

I'll never buy anything from CompUSA again because they screwed me out of a $15 rebate, claiming that I hadn't bought the item within the rebate window. This was clearly untrue, as the receipt showed the date of purchase as the last day of the promotion (I didn't hear about it until then).

I generally avoid buying stuff that is cheap because of a potential rebate, but if it's still a reasonable deal even if the rebate doesn't come through, I'd still buy it. But if I got screwed out of a rebate again, I'd still never buy anything from that vendor again, as they'd be dead to me.

Yeah Evan OCZ just did that to me. Bought some RAM sent in for the rebate. And they sent me a letter 3 months later saying that my submissal wasn't within the rebate window. Grrrr to them. Of course the electronic page I printed off isn't up, so I can't go back to check that. . . . oh well, at least the RAM is performing excellent.

I got 2 rebates from OCZ within a month. 1 for RAM and the other for a PSU.

I find the above article about Fry's interesting when one person claims that rebate problems are simply resolved at the store level.
I have always gotten every $ promised through rebates at MicroCenter within the expected time frame.
I have never gotten one dime from rebates on purchases through Newegg.

Got my Corsair 520HX PSU's $20 MIR this week. I bought the PSU November 5 and submitted the form within a couple of weeks. They certainly do all they can to get people to forget about these things.

For anyone interested, I built a new system mid-november and sent in all my rebates at the same time

These are the ones I got back in order:

1. Logitech G5 $15 MIR - Very very fast, I think this was a little over a week.
2. Thermaltake V1 CPU cooler $20 MIR - Also very fast
3. Abit IP35 PRO $20 MIR - somewhere in january
4. antec 900 $35 MIR - Received it mid-february

Recently I also bought a Kingwin external enclosure with a $15 MIR and I got the rebate within 2 weeks.

But I am still waiting on 2 OCZ rebates and im nearly hitting the 3 month mark now. It really sux cause its 2 $40 rebates....

That's odd. When I bought this system I had 2 rebates from OCZ ($50(RAM) & $40(PSU)) that I got within 3 weeks.

I just checked it again today, one of them says "approved" and that it was mailed 3 days ago. The other still says "Received, Submission is being processed".

I've not had problems with OCZ rebates as well. Anytime I buy any of their products with rebates they have been processed and sent on time. I'm 12/12 now. That's pretty darn good if you ask me.

Logitech has also been good to me. 5/5 with no probs!

Circuit City 0/1 on some DVD+R's. (Their store brand). Been 5 months, still no rebate.

Best Buy 2/2.

LG 1/1 on LCD monitor.

wow.. where to start?

i've probably sent in over 30 rebates in my lifetime and have yet to have a single problem...

brands and stores i know i've bought from that used MIRs...

staples (tons.. most for black friday.. great site)
best buy (also tons.. a little slow, but always came through)
office max (quite slow)
benq ($200 projector rebate!)
playo
sandisk
westinghouse
sapphire
ati
xfx
newegg
buy.com
ecost

i don't know what the beef is with mail in rebates. what's so hard about filling out a few forms and sending a little mail? honestly? i've never encountered a rebate that didn't explain what needed to be done in an easy manner and provide plenty of contact information in case you want to know what the status is. the only advice i recommend is just take pictures / scan your receipts so if you're sending in originals you still have all your proofs of purchase, but i thought that was common sense!

Nothing hard about it actually..but what the hell are you supposed to think or do when the rebate processing company files for bankruptcy and leaves your shorts in the wind? Yeah..i thought so..think before you spout off. The copys of everything do nothing in this instance.

Cyril suggested contacting the retailer (Newegg in my case), which is where I plan to start. However, I expect I'll end up contacting the manufacture, XFX. Any spare luck would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure glad I made a copy.

Glad I came here, I was going to make a post about Corsairs MIR habits because I'm awaiting one right now for a MIR on a HX620 PSU... :-?

After a couple of phone calls to the fulfillment people about Corsair's $35 MIR for 2x2 GiB of DDR2-800 I bought November 28, 2008, the first of which asked me to wait a week for the check, I finally got my check on Monday, March 9. The check expires April 15, which is rather soon for such things. I'll deposit it sometime this week and find out if they actually pay.

I filled out the online rebate information the same day I bought the RAM, and didn't get the confirmation email until December 27, and I had until January 6 to return the cut out bar code, invoice, and rebate form to them. Since then I've waited, and after the number of weeks I began calling them.

I do dislike MIR's, but at least I've never had a stick of Corsair fail on me, yet.

Debit Card Rip-0ff?

Mon Jul 06, 2009 1:19 pm

I got a $50 rebate in the mail recently from Cricket for a wireless internet adapter. It came in the form of a debit card instead of a check. That was sort of ok, although I certainly would have preferred a check.

Now that I have used it, though, I am livid. Every time I use the card I am charged a ridiculous fee by whomever issued the card. A $30 meal at a restaurant cost me over $36. A second charge of about $6 cost me over $8!

This is ridiculous. How can they call something a $50 rebate if it's really only about a $45 card?

I think I know what's happening here. The merchant offering the rebate can probably do it for cheap because whatever company issues the cards is making out like a bandit. Makes sense, but that doesn't make it right.

I received email notification today that my $30 rebate for a PNY video card was valid and in final processing. No estimate for when that will complete, but since I mailed the rebate on July 31 and they state August 6 as the date received, it may take a while.

I can't recall where it was in the forums here that someone complained about PNY too easily deeming rebate submissions invalid, but my experience differs so far.
