I am this ]<->[ close to buying one of these, if I can get the roommate to split the up-front cost (and then one or the other of us buys out the other's share, and keeps it, when he gets married and moves out in a few months).

Only thing I'm wondering is what the reliability is really like on these, especially for a refurb....I see the manufacturer's warranty is only 90 days, which is awfully short for $650 shipped.

I bit the bullet and grabbed one. It will replace a comparatively small but bulky 30" Samsung 1080i. The Samsung will replace a tv in our bonus room that needs to warm up for five minutes before you can see the picture. It's a win-win. Now I just have to get my wife to agree and split the cost with me. ;)

If I respond to this, we will need to move it to R&P, so I'll just shut up.

Well, the roomy and I are finally past all of the initial move-in expenses, and I had a 10% unconditional TV discount coupon for Circuit City, so we decided to split up the price of a 37" 720p that was on sale and call it a day. Final total including tax, $635.

Turned out to be very glad we did, because the first unit was DoA (shut itself off and would not power out of standby after about an hour and a half of use). :( Given how large and heavy these things are, it was much less painful to suffer a DoA that way than via an online purchase.

Hope your purchase is a winner, LFK :) Ours sure wasn't, but eh...it happens.

Let us know how it is.

I want one, but am not sure if the 12ms response is fast enough for gaming.

1/85 of a second isn't fast enough of a response for you?

Have you ever seen my ninja reflexes in action?

Here look wanna see it again?

I am curious cause the newer Westy panels, like the 720P I have are 8ms response. Curious on how gaming will be on it before I buy it.

I like mine a lot. I recomend using the DVI connectors. They fixed any issues I had....except for the black not being black enough.

Me and the girlfriend just bought a 42'' Westinghouse 1080p tv, I found the black level to be fine, especially compared to our older 720p Polaroid hdtv.
Plus the Westinghouse had 4 hdmi inputs, so we have the PS3, 360 elite and our computers plugged into it.

The westinghouse mentioned in the op and discussed further in this thread does not have any HDMI inputs. I had to buy a conversion plug to convert DVI to HMDI in order to get an HD-DVD to play nice.

Perhaps it was a different model, as mentioned earlier in the thread there seem to be 2 different ones.

How much did you spend on it (realizing it's 42" vs 37", etc...)

Just a FYI:
All this time it kept showing the original LVM-37W1 in stock, and now after I got it, it shows out of stock.

I wonder if I got the last one for now?

It only says temporarily out of stock so perhaps they are getting more in, this deal has been up since August, considering it originally said 7 units or something it's long overdue for them to be out :D

My buddy just bought a 37inch visio 720p lcd from sams club. It's so nice and the built in HD antenna picks up some sweet sports games. We've got halo 3 on there and it's awesome. I was tempted to buy a westy for my room after seeing his 37 incher but I've decided that I'm going to spend my money elsewhere http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/m1garand.htm.

I thought about it and 10 years from now it won't matter what kind of TV I had. I'd be mad for not getting an M1 garand while they're still available on the cheap :o
