Newegg has the OCZ Arc 100 (240GB) for $70 after MIR and promo code EMCARNN22. I'm pretty sure that's the lowest price I've seen for ANY 240GB SSD, and this one is not a bottom of the barrel SSD.

Newegg mobile site has a 10% off code (MBL15723A) for the 1TB Samsung 850 EVO. Should bring the purchase price to $340. Valid today only (7/23/15) and you'll need to check out on the mobile site to use the code.

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB for $155 with promo code EMCAWNX25. Ends 11:59 PT 8/29/2015.

I didn't want to turn this into my own thread but I AM thinking about upgrading from my 120GB SSD before/when I go to Windows 10 on my main rig. What does everyone think? Should I purchase?

I don't like the idea of TLC, and even less so after the fishy Samsung models. And how many SSDs do you buy? :)

Wake me up when fast performing >= 120GB SSDs can be had for <= 50$.

"fast performing" compared to what? I can get a MLC 128GB drive for $49.99 before any shipping/tax currently.

Although, it would be a pretty bad replacement for my $350 shipped/tax 1TB MLC drive.

On a side note, might want to add (http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal-hard-drive/) to the OP. It's the best price comparison (At least in the USA) I've found for most parts.

Or, linked like (http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal- ... =a7&page=1) for showing only SDD with price/GB with lowest first. ETC.

I think that HardOCP is working on a competitor/similar product called "PC hound" or something. That could be useful to have linked in the OP as well. PChound https://pchound.com/

I personally don't like the interface nearly as much as PCpartpicker, they also have less merchants on their list. Of course, they have the big merchants at least! :)

Closer to state of the art SSDs, rather than bottom feeders. I.e., not a low-end series, and with performance similar to the 250/500GB models.

The problem with SSD price erosion so far, mostly, is that while $/GB has decreased, the lowest capacity models got axed (<120GB), and the 120GB models aren't as performant as the rest.

Hot on the heels of TR's review, the 480GB Sandisk Ultra II is on sale for $135 after promo code EMCAXNS23 until end of the day 9.27.15. No MIR required.

That is just the nature of the beast, lower capacity = less memory chips = less parallelism.
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.

Amazon has Crucial BX100 250GB fo 64$ shipped. Is it as good as it gets, or can I realistically expect some better deals before the Black Friday?

It doesn't have to be. A few years ago 120GB were as fast as it got. The problem is that in many cases now they don't fill all the channels in lower capacity SSDs.

Seems like a good deal to me. That's an all-time low for that drive from Amazon, according to this page:

https://thetracktor.com/detail/B00RQA6TEI/us/

I'm skeptical that you'll see much lower prices for that drive on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. If you're looking for even more capacious drives to go on sale, you might wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but I would probably feel fairly confident about buying that drive for that price. Besides, at the price of that drive, even if it were lower For Black Friday/Cyber Monday it's not going to be massively lower. My guess is maybe 5-10 lower, which in the grand scheme of things isn't much, and potentially not worth waiting ~2 months for.

I'm not telling you to buy the drive, just trying to help give you some more things to consider. With all that being said, that is a REALLY tempting sale! I'm very tempted to buy it and replace this 5 year old 128GB OCZ Vertex 4 I'm using now!

WOW. Looks like EOL for sales with a new drive coming?!?!?!

I would jump on it. Cheaper per GB than my 1TB MLC SSD

Best Buy has the Sandisk SSD Plus 240gb on sale for $74.99 right now. I know it's not their high end line, but that seems like a steal. They also have the 120 variant for $49.99

Edit: They have the Ultra II series 240gb for $85.99.

I had such an itchy clicky-finger after you posted that, but couldn't justify it. Then today I got a $50 Amazon gift card in the mail from a relative as a thank-you for recent car maintenance. Naturally, the drive is back up to $80. Such is life.
