Mystery OC Jumper on X99-UD3/4 board

Mon Aug 03, 2015 1:12 am

I can not overclock my GA-X99-UD3 one percent/value/tick/volt/bump/nudge/slide/anything at all. Any value I change for OCing, will result in a failed boot, and the settings reset to their defaults. While clearing the cmos, I noticed a 3 pin jumper beside the CLR_CMOS jumper called "OC". I have now spent over two hours digging online trying to find out about this mystery jumper with no luck. Do I need to connect it to "allow" overclocking?

The photo below is of the right corner of the board. The red box is the CLR_CMOS jumper while the blue box shows the mystery OC jumper.

Anyone know what this is? The manual does not even mention this jumper.

I'm guessing they are headers for a 2011<->2083 pin operation switch, since the GA-X99-UD3 is a LGA2011-v3 board.

I think Asus had some gimmick like that too.

Mmm, well, I finally got the system to OC. Turns out, it would only let me do tweaks if I did not have the SSD and the HDD plugged in...

Thanks Glorious! It might by yeah. Still odd how nothing I find mentions this jumper. As if Gigabyte does not want anyone to know about it/what it does.

MSI used to have one of these to set the board to OC the bus. Try it and see what CPU-Z reports before and after?
