Asus Strix B350-i

Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:34 pm

Can anyone tell me if I'm able to swap out the current wifi card on this board to the newer Intel 9260 wifi card? Is there any issues?

Says the included card is 802.11ac 2x2 with MU-MIMO (can't find the actual model # though). What's in the Intel 9260 that's significantly better than that?

The Wi-Fi driver version on the Asus website is V2023.66.1104.2017. A quick Google search reveals that's a Realtek driver version. I have nothing against Realtek but maybe the OP wants to replace it.

So with that mystery solved, it seems like it might work depending on how the card on the board is keyed (assuming it's even removable). The helpful photo from this eBay listing shows it's keyed for both E and A.

From the photos of the motherboard, I can't even see where the Wi-Fi card would be so there's no real definitive answer unless someone has the board and tries it.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

It looks like it's entirely in that metal shield/casing. Odd.

I still could buy one of these, but it depends on the RMA. I just sent in my mobo finally.
Meow.

That appears to be housing the second SSD-focused M.2 slot and the audio codec. I guess Wi-Fi could be on the back but I don't see it.

I meant the casing on the back that says Wi-Fi Go or whatever on ASUS' page. It seems too large to just connect the antennas.

OK, yes. That's what I was wondering as well.

+1 to you for going the extra mile! I stopped after I had looked up pictures on newegg to see the WiFi "box", not seeing the model # on newegg, wen't to Asus' website (saw the driver version BTW), not there, the Manual, not there, look up Intel 9260 specs are the same....I'm done.

Ty for the reply. I'm looking for better wifi speed. The new card, Intel 9260 purportedly is Gigabit speed compared to 867Megabits. Asrock has a motherboard similar to this one and it supposedly can be swapped out.
