We find ourselves down the road 3 months from the release of the BIOS updates that allowed Raven Ridge boot-ability on B350/x370 boards. Unfortunately, it seems that e-tailers don't either know their products or care about properly informing their customers of which of these "older" boards are actually going to arrive with the necessary BIOS update to drive either Raven Ridge or the newly released 2000 series. This seems sort of like an important things especially considering B450 isn't a thing. Not to mention the cheapest x470 board right now is $140, making it twice the price of quite a few B350 boards that would be fine for someone on an ultra budget.
It's terrible execution like this that ends up leading to frustrated consumers and even enthusiasts. It ends up making people wait an additional 1, 2 or 3 weeks until they've changed their mind and just end up buying into another platform that doesn't have these unknowns. I'm trying to do just that here, buy some RR 2400g systems only because the IGP actually is a need for an office build over an Intel offering and I'm trying to avoid buying into the still screwed up GPU market. 2400g would be perfect for this use, but it's no go if I can't ensure I'll get a board that comes with the proper BIOS. I'm not waiting for the boards, then calling AMD up again to get a loaner. I'm also sort of dis-enchanted that AMD refused to even respond the multiple times I requested to keep their loaner for a longer period of time (3-6 months?) as I run a shop and would likely need it again.... Well, low and behold, look where I'm at again 1 month later.
/sigh. Execution is as if not more important that product guys.... wake up.
