GA-AX370-Gaming 5 3rdGen support getting there slowly.

Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:05 pm

Was worried my 370 might not have support for the 3950 3d gen ryzen.
But (slowly) there is a new chipset driver listed for "3d gen"! -June6
But still no Bios yet for 3d gen but they are clearly working on it.

My first gen Threadripper overclocked to the "boost" speed. 4k (I do 3950)
I'll be very nicely surprised if the 3950 ryzen can OC to the 4700 boost speed.
Liquid N2 only got it to 5300.
I doubt it has much headroom left...we will see in july! (or sept. ?)

I have an AX370-Gaming K3. Fan control is decent. I've had issues with the Realtek ALC 1220, not sure if it's a board issue or drivers?

Also BIOS controls are very poor and unintuitive and that's putting it lightly. Give back my legacy bois gui.

I think I will be looking more closely at bios control/functions on the next motherboard purchase.

I like the F30 version "Note : Due to BIOS ROM size limited, no Bristol Ridge APU support. "

I have a word for that also.

I seem to hear good things about ASUS bios options.
Definitely better then Gigabyte's. Have never had a MSI board tho.

Honestly that is a processor that I'd likely get a new board for.

Is the gaming 5 even going to be able to handle an overclocked 3950x? Without an actual review it's hard to say how much power it's going to consume. The good news is you have until September, since your looking at the 16 core.

Nephew has msi b450 tomahawk it has a secure erase command which is pretty convenient and seems better than gigabytes bios

I still have to get my original Ryzen box (with Gigabyte mobo) fixed.

I now have the resources to do it...but no actual use for the system once it's fixed heh :p

None of these systems even use BIOS do they? Weird that they still call it that.
Meow.
