Need help

Fri Jan 01, 2021 12:46 am

Hi,

I am trying to build a PC and not sure what motherboard to go for?

I have chosen Ryzen 9 3900X as the processor for its performance-to-price ratio.

I am an architect by profession and doing this build just for sake of smooth running of Lumion 11 software. The graphics card I am going for is RTX 2060.

A bit confused here in terms of selecting a motherboard. Any suggestions?

You will want either a B550 or 570 mainboard.

Your case size will also determine the size of mainboard you can install make sure it is compatible.

You may want to use something like PCPartPicker.com to make sure everything is compatible.

Your boot drive should be a NVME of 1-2tb and then depending on your needs get regular hard drive for storage or a NAS box for backup etc.

16gb ram is the minimum these days but check with those who use the same software as you use and see if 32 recommended instead.
Main machine: Core I7 -2600K @ 4.0Ghz / 16 gig ram / Radeon RX 580 8gb / 500gb toshiba ssd / 5tb hd
Old machine: Core 2 quad Q6600 @ 3ghz / 8 gig ram / Radeon 7870 / 240 gb PNY ssd / 1tb HD
