Samsung LCD TV issue

Fri Mar 11, 2016 3:05 pm

I know there is a load of information already out there about Samsung TVs and their capacitor problems, but I haven't come across any posts with quite the same symptoms.

I have a Samsung LE32R87BD. The TV turns on as normal, but after 30 seconds the screen goes black for a split second, then I get a weird smearing effect where the screen goes back on for about a second and blackness smears across from right to left. Then the screen goes back to black as the TV resets and comes back on as usual. Then 20 or 30 seconds later the cycle starts again. No clicking or any other noises like in most of the other problem posts.

A visual inspection of the power board shows no obvious signs, no bulging capacitors etc.

My plan was to replace the power board, but I thought I would see if anyone out there had any other thoughts.

Thanks,
Ali
