Re: Recommendation for 2nd DSLR

I bought a Sony a5100 camera a while ago. It uses the same sensor as the a6000 but can't shoot quite as fast (which I never do any way).

It is cheap ($350 for the body when I bought), it is light (seemingly all plastic) and it takes fantastic pictures with minimal effort (I can't take any credit for skill).

Reading this thread makes me want to get the 16mm prime lens (I think that is the size).

For something easy to carry when you don't want to haul out serious heavy gear, it works but probably not quite as good as the serious gear.

Thanks for your reply. After all is said and done, I am leaning toward resigning myself to lugging around a big and heavy Nikon D810 and 24-120mm F/4 combo.

16 mm is the focal length of the lens. Wide angle lenses are very specific so make sure to read more about this one.

Oh, I know that, I just can't remember if the Sony brand prime lens is a 16mm or 14mm focal length. I think there is a fancy lens with an 11mm focal length or something but it's about a $1,000 lens, the one in my price range is a couple hundred.

My a7R is 465g with batteries. I don't expect you to take one up, as you are invested already in a fine camera, just pulling yer chain. ;)
