Netflix 2560x1440

Sat May 27, 2017 10:45 pm

Look for assistance. I can't get my Netflix to run at my monitors native resolution of 2560x1440. It only runs at 1080P.

I have Netflix ultra HD, with a Kabylake 7100 cpu using the iGPU. I have windows 10 and am running Netflix thru Edge. I thought that was all the requirements. Although I don't know if Netflix lets you view their content at an intermediate resolution (i.e. 2560x1440).

With that said, I only have a 15Mbps DSL connection. My motherboard is a Z170 series. And am using an HDMI cable and not display port to drive my display. Although I thought it wouldn't matter.

Any thoughts?

I don't think 15Mbps is fast enough (says Netflix) for whatever 4k they push. As such, it might just upscale 1080p for you.

Try ctrl+shift+alt+D to check out the stats of what they're serving you.

According to Netflix in order to stream UHD content you need a STEADY 25mb/s or higher Internet connection:

Yeah I don't think they have a dedicated 1440p stream as they, like most of the consumer market outside of PCs (and I guess Youtube,) have ignored it.

And this is why it's easier to just stick with the common TV resolutions.

I have checked the info on Netflix using cntrl+shift+alt+d.

So you think to get 2560x1440 Netflix needs to stream 4k and then down sample.

OK, I think I'll up my internet service and then judge if I think it's worth it or not.

If your main concern is having your monitor run at native res then there should be an option in the graphics driver to do all scaling on the GPU and always output at native.

My monitor is running at 2560x1440. Netflix is pushing an up scaled 1080P image to it. I'd prefer Netflix to show a 2560x1440 image on it, so I get the best image possible. Especially since the shows I am currently watching are available in 4k.

4K with downscaling should work fine if you satisfy their insane DRM requirements and have a good 75+ Mbps connection.
