Looking for recommendations - Dell U2415 / 2515 Vs Asus Eye Care Range

Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:43 am

Hi everyone. My PC and monitors are approx 6 years old. I will soon be getting a new PC. I am also considering replacement monitors, and giving my old monitors to my parents.

My priority is looking after my eyes, in particular doing everything I can to reduce eye-strain.

1) After doing some research, I have read that the Dell U2415 / 2515 are good monitors - given that they are height adjustable and flicker free. Are these good monitors to use for long hours (some gaming and lots of document work)?

2) I have read about the Asus Eye Care monitors - would these be genuinely more helpful for my eyes compared to the Dell models?

Any guidance or advice is much appreciated.

Not sure if this is a legit post, but I'll bite. There's currently an active forum thread here discussing the same basic question.

You could take a look at this site for reviews http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/. I have tried the U2414 which is a sweet Dell monitor, unfortunately cant comment on the models you are looking at. Also I have seen a few comments on reddit regarding eye fatigue and gaming monitors. I am not sure what the manufacturers are doing there, if the brightness is set too high for better contrast or what. Sorry my answer is pretty unscientific. I suggest you do as much research as you can.

I dunno about how well it is for your eyes but I just bought an Asus PB277Q and absolutely love it. Since I'm still on a 970 I couldn't convince myself to buy a monitor with a higher refresh rate or G-Sync. So I got this for around $250 and I couldn't be happier.
