Same here (sad trumpets). Oh well, hopefully there's not too much drama with the return process.

I think this is going to depend critically on whether it is an honest mistake with the listing, or an intentional con by the 3rd party seller. As I noted a few posts back, the Newegg listing seems to indicate that you'll be dealing with the seller (not Newegg) for returns. So this may not be as painless (possibly nowhere near so...) as a normal Newegg return.

This is looking even worse than I originally guessed. A new B226WL retails around $179 at big box (Walmart, OfficeMax...). It sounds like a bait-and-switch con where the seller ships a legit product at a typical retail price (without the retail overhead, obviously), after "accidentally" advertising a nicer unit. Obviously a savvy buyer will fight, but others may just end up stuck with the product for various reasons, such as an urgent replacement need and the difficulty of proving fraud because they paid for, and received, a product they could have willingly purchased elsewhere.

Curious how the return process goes. I wonder if they'll try to claim another "vendor error" and try to offer a discount that brings the final price down to more typical online prices for that unit.

It's not even the advertised size of display...

Simply call your bank and reverse charges if it is not as advertised and Newegg/Seller doesn't accept it. That is my plan.

I did have to contact the seller directly for return and they responded in less than an hour:

We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience caused regarding this issue. After receiving reports, we have identified that due to a system glitch, our listing on Newegg was incorrectly linked to another product "Acer Predator XB271HU 27" LCD Monitor" on the website. We currently do not have any inventory for the product that was displayed on the website, in order for us to ship it out to you and our supplier has been unable to confirm when we would receive new stock for the product. Steps have already been taken and the incorrect product attachment has been updated by Newegg to avoid any further inconvenience.

In this case we can provide you a free return prepaid label to send the incorrect item received "Acer UM.WB6AA.G02 B226HQL Gymdprx - LED Monitor" back for a full refund. If you however, would like to keep the current item received, we would be more than happy to process a partial refund of $39.34.

Please write back to us to confirm if you would like to return for a full refund or keep the item for a partial refund.

It sounds like it was an honest mistake but the other reviews for the seller say that this isn't the first time they've done this. So they're either shady, incompetent or both. Either way I guess it was nice that they responded quickly and were offering to let me keep the monitor with a partial refund - and boy did they ship it fast!

JAE is right, it's a classic bait and switch. They make you think it's an honest mistake and then try to seem nice knowing most people will either stick with the monitor and take the discount.

I hope they send me a return label and I get to ship it back from AK  . Can't wait for them to see their shipping cost back.

Quick update:
Yesterday my return order was completed for the SpyTec "Acer Predator XB271HU" I tried to buy. SpyTec did provide a prepaid shipping label, and the $179.33 was credited back to my account.

I sent them a message on Newegg via the Marketplace and nothing.... sent a claim to Newegg stating that no one had responded about this issue yet, but saw that Newegg claims 1-2 weeks due to "Increased Marketplace Claims", which really makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

We shall see what they do, I already lost $20 in shipping cost because I sent it to a freight forwarder. I'm hoping they send me a shipping label, I go to ship it out and they get a fatty Fedex/UPS bill from Alaska because they don't bother to ask where I'm located. This looks very intentional, not an accident by any means.

Re: Inexpensive IPS for Office (Dual Monitor)

So I FINALLY got Newegg on the phone as they were just plain out not responding via email/website. They spoke to the "vendor" (a bunch of crooks) and they offered the same $39.34 as a discount. Which still makes these $140 monitors that you can get cheaper elsewhere. I said "Nope, they have to come down a bit lower than that since these monitors are back from 2012/2013 and no were near the same size". They refused to offer anymore than the 39.34, which tells me that this was likely a calculated thing, them selling these monitors and knowing a good chunk of people are willing to just keep them. If they had made the price closer to $100-110 I'd probably have kept them.

So instead the lady at Newegg was nice enough to give me $50 off my next order which will be today/tomorrow anyhow, and the "vendor" will ship them back. That $50 was good because it covered the extra shipping via freight forwarder and the taxes I had to pay thanks to their switcharoo. Again, I wish I could see them when they get the cost of shipping these back from here.

A little waste of my time, but hopefully Newegg learned a lesson about their marketplace sellers and starts to police them a bit closer. If the Marketplace becomes a much more integral part to their business, they could easily start having some serious problems without some serious oversight on sellers.
