Man, is the Display scene ever messed up, at least as far as the Asus displays go. The alphabet soup is strong with them, and no decoder ring comes in the package either.

I seem to have an issue finding the REAL differences between monitors like the VP239H-P and the VC239H. I see some subtle differences, but no real good way to tell the difference about which is newer for release, quality of the panel (both IPS), ect.

I'm just looking for a 23-24" IPS with VESA mounting, anti glare and hopefully a host of VGA/DVI/HDMI to allow for them to be moved to different systems over the years. I'll be buying a stand for them so I'm not terribly worried about it being wobbly. They will be used in an office for spreadsheets and Quickbooks primarily. I was shooting for keeping them around or under $130 a piece. I'll need to grab 8 of them, so that was sort of a challenge as most places limit 2-4. The "bezel-less" displays I mentioned before would be nice for reducing the gap over my usual buy, the huge bordered VS228H-P. We needed some larger displays as the staff was bummed when I told them 27" wasn't in the budget and would honestly be sort of painful to use with two monitors next to one another.

Anyone want to throw their .02 into the hat on a model I may have missed or have feedback on a specific model?

Any reason to shop Asus in particular?

For borderless IPS under $130, this is just shy of your target (22") but seems hard to beat:

I can't find that exact deal on the Adorama website so I don't know how they're doing it through Newegg, but Newegg will let me add a quantity of 8 to my cart.

Also, I'm not sure there's much benefit to trying to connector-proof yourself on this purchase, from my perspective most consumer-grade stuff is going to HDMI but who knows what will rule by this time in four years. As long as you have a DVI port you can dongle yourself to pretty much anything at near-native fidelity.

I went with 23" because none of the 24" were IPS within a decent price range. The Dell you linked would be great, only it has no VESA. I don't NEED the VGA part, but it is a decent option to have. Yes of course I can use a dongle from DVI to VGA, it's just nice to have options that don't rely on dongles or cables. I'd happily take a HDMI/DVI only monitor. I don't expect DP at this price range, but sure it would be nice in addition.

The customer was already a bit bummed they couldn't get 27" and I notched it down even a step further to 23". I dare not cut another inch, lest I be stoned to death upon my next visit.

The bezels on the ViewSonic VA2465SMH look massive. It's a 24" M-VA display.

Dell U2414H can be found cheap if you look around for discounted offers; Borderless IPS with VESA mounting and they're an older model so don't pay MSRP for them.

AOC also do some decent affordable/borderless/vesa displays. Search Amazon or wherever for AOC i23 and you'll get various models for around $120

No VESA mounting; That's the usual downfall of sub-$100 monitors.

LG 23MP48HQ-P for $110 at Newegg. 24", VESA mountable, and has a 75-Hz refresh rate.
Acer G276HL for $130 with EMCPSRX29. 27", VA panel, 1920x1080, built-in speakers.

I also spotted this, but the price cant' be right. This is usually $600+:

Yep, in this case it's a new person who is pushing for lots of changes, albeit some good ones. They just wanted "THE BIGGEST POSSIBLE". They even wanted to go with 2 x 32" TVs ahah.

They don't look bad, not a huge fan of anything HP... but those also don't have VESA and are refurbs

I'm ALSO going to buy a bunch of those monitors if they will actually send the real thing (especially new!?)

Worst case is ALWAYS a box full of angry Black Widow spiders. If your product can accept a DP signal and isn't venomous, that's a decent start.

LOL, I ordered 2 of the bastards. Lets see how this works. If for any reason it's BS I'll simply call up BoA and have them reverse the charges. I confirmed with Newegg that if it is BS they file a marketplace claim and it can take 1-2 weeks. However, the listing on Newegg claims it falls under their Standard return policy, which is 30 days, who knows the "Restock fee". I also have a phone convo recorded and chat with the company saying that the item is new, not used or refurbished. We shall see.

If I manage to get a $500-600 monitor for $200 bucks once shipped here, I'm all for it and will probably resell them though.

I bought one of those Acer XB271HU's also. Worth a try....just one though. (This reminds me of the CM Hyper 212 EVO deal for $3 a while ago, all my orders of those got cancelled by Amazon. So, fingers crossed)

Before anyone else jumps on this TGTBT Newegg deal...take a look at the more recent seller reviews for "SpyTec." A few 5-star where the buyer got exactly what they ordered, and several times as many 1-star due to mis-shipped or faulty product followed by a difficult customer service experience. For those reviews where the seller responded to the review, the response is "misrepresentation/wrong-picture/etc. by our supplier."

My speculation accordingly: the seller is buying gray-market lots from who knows where, which could include shipper/distributor damaged lots, repackaged customer returns, lots de-inventoried from retail for any reason including midcycle P/N changes or S/N misprints on the devices, overstock and bankruptcy liquidations, refurbs, etc. Then they're saving costs by inventorying and reselling them (or maybe even brokering them sight-unseen through a contract warehouse) with little or no QA/QC checks.

IOW good luck. Might even get a top-dollar 27" monitor for 60% off. Might also try to RMA it at some point and discover the serial number is listed as OEM/bulk/refurb and is inelligible for warranty service.

@ ludi - That sounds like newegg's problem, not mine. I'm fully prepared and willing to demand a return/refund if its BS. Anything like this comes with potential strings attached. You just have to weigh if the potential headache is worth the potential gain.

For sure, I believe you are right on the money with this one. I've rolled the dice in these situations before and I have MAYBE a 20% success rate. If this was fleabay I'd pass it up, but via Newegg and knowing I can reverse it with my bank if incorrect.... I'll bite.

But it WILL be your problem if it fails outside the window of the Newegg return/refund policy and the manufacturer's warranty turns out to be "What warranty? That S/N doesn't show up as valid retail, no RMA can be issued."

For anyone who knows that up front and is willing to trade the risk for the discount, great. But a lot of the younger and/or budget builders who lurk around here deserve fair warning, they may not have been burned by this kind of scheme (yet).

Surprisingly it's already out for delivery, I should have it today! I'm not getting my hopes up *too* high yet but at least the package weight and dimensions look right. A couple of reviews from that seller said they ordered a switch but just got the rack ears and screws...

Given that the Q&A shows responses like this

BEST ANSWER: It is IPS, however I didn't receive the Predator monitor. I got a Acer B6 series monitor.

BEST ANSWER: It's not. Be prepared to return it. I just got mine this morning. It's a 22" ACER plain old IPS monitor. I'm about to return mine now.

it seems almost certain that you will get a product but not the one you thought you were getting. Not too
surprising when the closest price for the same monitor from another vendor is just over $400 for a refurbished
monitor.

IOW sounds like you've gotta deal with the 3rd party seller, not Newegg. Good luck returning it.

If I had to guess (haven't even opened the box to find the exact model #), the monitor I received is probably worth about $90. A far cry from the $180 I paid.

Well its above your budget, BUT, I bought a BenQ BL2420PT several months ago and I am very happy with it. It blows my old Dell P2214H outa the water.

It has an anti-glare coating, but it's lighter than my old Dell. The fully adjustable stand is very solid and has VESA mounts if you want to use a different one. It has built in speakers which is nice when I don't want to wear my headset and since I have no speakers. Has DP, DVI, HDMI, other connectors. 24" at 2560x1440, I find nice and clear, crisp and sharp. I'm far sited so even the 21.5" dell at 1080 sitting 20-24" away looked like a screen door, this one I have to sit about a foot away before I can make out pixels. I paid $300 cnd w/o tax, and when I get a bigger desk I would hesitate to get another. Apparently it is true 8-bit and not 6-bit+frc color also.
The only thing that would have been nicer would have been flat bezels, but I can live that. I guess if it did 120Hz and had freesync would have been great also, but for the price I have no qualms with it.
